Just watched this and by god it's a shocking story. A man held for 7 years, tortured until he confesses and then is declared innocent but still held for another 7 years while the Obama administration appeals. If this had been under Trump there would be a global uproar but it was that nice Barack fella!

Then in the closing credits they reveal that of 779 held in Guantanamo only 8 had been charged and 40 are still there. Of the 8 charged 7 are found guilty but 3 of those verdicts are overturned on appeal, so 779 accused terrorists and only 4 are guilty.

No wonder people are so suspicious of governments.

When will people learn that torture does not provide justice.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

He was a very rich socialist who made his wife even richer with all his human rights legislation. A gold mine for lawyers.

But he said he was,as does Jezza ,Tony Benn but all have/had "middle class "backgrounds.
Cherie had a dog awful upbringing, with a philandering father -a real Red boy.
Funny how she dumped socialism -at least for her-

Socialism goes against basic human nature

Sadly, this Isle is either people enjoying being put down or those enjoying keeping them down.

We need to start again.

He was a champagne socialist as so many in Labour turn out to be these days.

Labour are making noises now about lobbyists,

https://news.sky.com/story/lab

Cameron said it'd be the next big political scandal and there he is. Truthfully though, governments are all at it, like evrything else that stinks in politics, they encourage lobbyists because it's how they make the contacts that provide them with the "generously" paid jobs they take after politics.
Corporations should have no more access to government than any body else. It's corruption.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Champagne is hardly exotic fare now though is it.
Not much more than a tenner in Aldi.

Unlike most,I would have a complete barstard for a PM so long as he got this country straight.

Right now,TORY MP are rebelling against Vac Passports which would see this country return to some normality. Those who dont want to vax can simply fook off as I dont want any more to catch this virus through self.

Tory MPs in this regard are shameful.

I can understand bleeding heart left liberal anti everything labour friendsbut not Tories. This shames them and Boris should cut them down right now.He hasnt the guts though.

If you and Perch think Blair (a free marketeer, an imperialist who Thatcher lauded) was a socialist your both as thick as a folded steak sandwich.

It’s scary how idiots have taken over this once quite insightful and interesting jnf forum.

He was the leader of a socialist party. I did not say he was a socialist. I think he managed to persuade 40% of the population that he was. He was slightly to the left of centre as long as he could increase his wealth . Not sure what Blair has to do with this post though.

Back to the Movie - superb from every aspect, harrowing, thoughtful with some truly stellar acting performances. The 'must watch' film of the year.

Tony Blair was a tory,he was even backed by Murdoch and the sun.

As far as the film goes I'll have to watch it.

Any country that uses internment is a backward country or a dictatorship.
Every man deserves a fair trial

Blair won on the Labour ticket, it's us who was fooled.

The film is good, I found myself wondering towards the end, is this really true so I looked the fella up. A truly shocking story.
