I wouldn't necessarily agree that verified experts should be automatically agreed with. Questioning authority is vital in many areas of society, but when you're as out of your depth up against the Prof as some of these crazies are then there are limits to that. | |

You are right-we should question. Certainly during the pandemic there were many 'experts' and its easy to get sucked into being on multiple media by saying something interesting or attention grabbing (I made that mistake in the German E. coli outbreak in 2011-though correct I used a phrase for the layperson which got picked up on). Most voices now are talking sense (whether you agree or Not) and not the rent a gobs like Sikora last year. But when you start to get consensus (like on vaccines) you are on safer ground that what you are told is largely correct. | | | |

A lot of it is down to what you want to believe.
I would love Covid to be a pandemic of false positive tests and the actual minority that need treatment to be cured by Vitamin D and maybe some off the shelf flea treatment. Or even orchestrated by some evil genius software developer.
I'm pretty certain we wouldn't be seeing so many people die and the economy being crippled if that were the case.

I'm not saying experts should just be believed because they are experts. I'm just wondering why you wouldn't believe an accredited expert but you would believe someone on the internet you probably never heard of before the google search turned them up!
I have disagreed with experts many times and even managed to be right a few times! I don't cruise the internet looking for evidence of conspiracies though. There's enough of that on here | |
