As expected Swansea City have done the deal but he won’t become a swans player until July 1st when he is out of contract at Wigan.

Now the question is, is he for the 1st team or the U23s?

On the basis he came to us with 2/3 other clubs interested & our other first team strikers are Cullen & Whittaker think it’s safe to assume it’s the 1st team squad.

The squad is building up a core of young playes with potential most 19-23. when miixed with the academy players it should be young energetic and athletic.

Benda, Rushesha, Cooper B, Cabanago, Roberts, Dhanda, Cooper O, Garrick Joseph Cullen. Whittaker.

They will not all play at once of course but be available for rotation. Add to that Williams D Webb Thomas Josh and any new u21 signings.

The best of these players will be in 3 years time.

Which is precisely why we need a manager with a strong heritage in developing young players, successfully blending that with experience and getting the very best out of latent talent (see Lowe, Grimes, Roberts et al).

No issue with that, just wish he'd show a bit of ambition and adventure during games.

The Swansea City academy Wales ‘Euros’ back four 12th Jun 2021 12:00
It’s an incredible thing, four of Wales finest defensive products, that is Wales players developed in the principality have all come from Swansea City FC. Gruff mentioned this earlier, if they were from Cardiff City other media would be hammering it down our throats. 0

This isn't a criticism. Is Roberts still considered a young player? He is 26 in a couple of months and I want to know when we consider them as young and developing to in their prime.

and it three years time, then what.
Will they even be still at the club.
It would be nice to sign fully experienced ready to go players.

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

Of course its a proud day.

We had a 7 year gap between Ben and Connor, of course, but the model where we invest time and effort with local young lads like Joey, Ben, Connor, Rodon, and Cabango is the model i support. You can add Jazz and Macca.
Plus Gwion, Sheehan etc thrown in.

I don't support the model where we just bring in players from elsewhere, who stay years, are not good enough, and then leave. This blocks local talent and creates lazy coaches.
The examples of Kenji Gorre and Zabret spring immediately to mind, plus players who sign for Premier League Swansea, only to be at TNS within months. Someones judgement is ? Rory Donnelly anyone ?

The obvious push backs are Dan James and Oli.
However we don't have the money now to even attempt this model.
Its ain't going to happen until we are back in the Prem, if ever ....

My question back is .... if all the above players were developed under the CoE model, bar Cabango, then why spend millions on an Academy and then sign players like Kyle Joseph who have been developed elsewhere. Likewise Rhian, Gallagher etc.
It makes no sense.

More local welsh players being developed has to be our model.
If my crime is not to want local talent blocked by ill considered imports then i am guilty as charged.
