| Mask wearing to save lives 11:46 - Jul 31 with 1236 views | RonaldStump | But killing yourself: So when you wear your masks for any length of time you are creating an acidotic state of your blood, a PH imbalance, crucially to your health you need a balance of PH in your blood stream at all times. Constantly breathing in bacteria you are hurting your body by breathing in your own Co2. Understand that this is not doing you any good at all. In the main they are highly ineffective in preventing virus's, even N95 masks, for one they should always be fitted, they protect you against TB which is not a virus, it's bacteria. Bin the masks and never wear them again, for your own good. | |

| Mask wearing to save lives on 21:10 - Jul 31 with 1021 views | Jack123 | I wear one, as I have said before just for fear of being embarrassed and called out for it, I don't like it!!, but it's only once or twice a week for say 20 minutes at a time, I do pity the shop workers though, wearing a muzzle for hours on end, and also doing a lot of physical work the same time. IIRC I believe surgeons change their masks every 15 minutes, due to bacterial build up? | |

Surgeons change their masks every 15....they didn't when I had my hip replacement. I had a spinal bloack and was awake all through, none of them changed their masks. If they did that every 15 wouldn't there be a risk of cross infection and the need to scrub up again? https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2214031X18300809

Cool, it was just a thought cat.. Although what's this about then? Conclusions The source of bacterial contamination in SMs was the body surface of the surgeons rather than the OR environment. Moreover, we recommend that surgeons should change the mask after each operation, especially those beyond 2 hours. Double-layered SMs or those with excellent filtration function may also be a better alternative. The translational potential of this article This study provides strong evidence for the identification that SMs as source of bacterial contamination during operative procedures, which should be a cause for alarm and attention in the prevention of surgical site infection in clinical practice. ??

I would have thought surgeons would need a small break for a drink or a piss every few hours, so they probably change them then

N95 masks are fitted correctly. They are not cotton masks bought from the market with a pretty picture on

The virus travels on small vapour droplets. The virus isn't hovering in the air waiting to attack victims. A mask acts like a barrier and filter to prevent the droplets entering a persons airway. It doesn't matter how tiny the virus is, it still needs the droplets as it's vehicle. No droplets, no virus. Of course, a specialised mask would be preferable, but for most ppl, who don't come into contact with known covid patients every day like nurses, docs and care workers a cheap 3 layer cloth mask will work very well indeed. If everyone wears one, that would give double protection and reduce the chance of transmission further. Social distancing will create an air gap between humans and add a further degree of protection as well. Following those basic rules would give practically 100% protection while out in a public indoor setting.

100% correct. Masks are not to protect yourself unless FFP3 (UK standard) or N95 (US). They are to stop droplet transmission. And work.
