I hope he did not say that. I'm happy to see him given season (s) providing we're showing improvement.
However, my patience will be tested if he insults my intelligence when he's been so comprehensively outdone by the opposition coaching team, as he was yesterday evening.
There was a colossal difference between the two teams. Largely due to Stoke's players obeying their coaches' instructions and working tirelessly to man mark our players deep in our half.
Martin did nothing to address this and we were quickly 0-3 down. The only reason it didn't end 0-5 or 0-6 is because the Stoke players backed off, either through instruction or tiredness. [Post edited 18 Aug 2021 13:14]

I watched Stoke v Valencia at the Brittania a few years back. A clash of styles. Valencia were playing passing game and were under a lot of stress 1-0 for 60 minutes. Valencia never changed they style and strolled to a 3-1 as Stoke tired. This is part of the principle of Swansalona.
High intense press is very tiring and cannot be done for 90 minutes except in exceptional circumstances. If the early storm can be navigated the rewards are seen later in the game. Against both Stoke and Blackburn Swansea could not navigate the first 20 minutes from silly mistakes. |  |
