How he doesn’t get sent off when defending corners and set pieces for holding, I’ll never know.
Yet, sweet crosser of the ball, seems to have improved his fitness with RM.
Would describe him best as a lower half championship club player.
If Martin’s master plan for returning to The Premiership stops at Plan A , IE. playing it out from the back, with fast wingbacks covering attack and defence, then a Connor Roberts type was/is the blueprint.
If we’re going to look at the bigger picture, come January, get any money you can for Bidwell

Honest pro but a horrendous defender and always liable to a card and I agree with you about his habit of trying to hang on to players-literally. That is because he is so limited. In the same way as equally one footed Manning,to me equally horrendous and a nomark player for us. | |

He is a 'non negotiable' player he gets his blocks in. The fact is he does not give away penalties hardly never injured and super reliable. Second or third name on the team sheet for Cooper behind Ayew and Guehi.
How can a player like Tom Lawrence get three goes at beating Hamer? If Bidwell was on the other side it would have been one. If Cullen had cahones he would have had an assist. Ayew would have buried that Bidwell cross. |  |

A more than decent acquisition. The idea that he's "League Two" is laughable nonsense. Perhaps not ideally suited to the way RM wants to play, but a handy player for the last two years. Can't go wrong on a freebie. |  |

I think the world of Jake but I’m not sure it’s the RM style that’s stifling him a bit. If you’re going to leave your wingbacks stationed on half way you need front foot quick ball. We are criminally slow at this - Grimes and Smith the most recent culprits. This football needs good vision , quick minds and quick feet. Play the ball in front of Bidwell to run on to and 9 times out of 10 the cross will go into a dangerous area.
We aren’t really allowing him to play his best football - if he receives the ball on a standing start with defenders in front of him he’s going to pass it back. He doesn’t really have the pace from a standing start to play a 1-2 and ste am past a defender. Saying that Laird is suffering similarly on the right flank due to slow ball. |  |

Bidwell put in a beautiful cross to Cullen v Derby. Without doubt Ayew would have buried it and Bidwell would have got an got an 'assist'.
I am not clear Cullen was committed to making a contact and consequently let the ball pass him by. For me his commitment is under question. | |
