Christmas, 1914 20:36 - Dec 24 with 1626 viewsLohengrin

The centenary celebrations may have been and gone and the spotlight of history may have moved on but the sacrifice is not forgotten,

In grateful remembrance of the young boys going up the line, our own kith and kin, one hundred and seven years ago tonight at this hour.

The War to end Wars. Shame it was not the case.
Watched Lucy Worsley’s documentary on Carols last night. Unusual in that was written to be played on guitar.

Best wishes of the season to you and your family.

In some parts of the line the truce went on until Easter.

And Blackadder was never offside.

Problem was adolph hitler had a define hate against the Jewish , in 1933 he even made them have a genealogy passport this passport confirmed that the holder was of Arian race , this passport was required for entrance to public places including schools museums theatre and work places ! Imagine that

Good post, respect to all those brave young men, Gee the majority of us whinge about everything. I look at that picture, and they are just too young to go to war.

Back in Wellingtons time rich families would buy commissions for 16 yr olds and send them off to fight Bonaparte.

In both WW's young teens lied and signed up. The USA's youngest was just 12.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Seems to have been accidental. Reduced to manslaughter on appeal. Hopper was released in 1918

Just did a search for Sgt Hopper and Swansea. Found a site with the whole history which matched the contemporary newspapers. Said he was released in February 1918. Seems it may be reproduced from a book on true crime in Swansea.
