Fine balance between how many yanks sell? 05:38 - Apr 10 with 1345 viewsSwans9

Hope not all of piroe and downes and Paterson get sold in the summer. Squad is already bare but it's a fact of life we have to sell to survive. I was gutted when we sold llorente in the prem bit unless we get owners with money nothing will change.

What have we got?
14 or 15 players capable of doing the job.
For once, keep them.
It will be worth it.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

They really need to hold their nerve this summer.

There will be bids for Piroe, Downes etc but the £8/9mill will be insignificant compared to what the side with them could earn the club at the end of next season.

Marin will be releasing and selling to get his players in.
Some players will look to move to higher wages or higher leagues … it’s a short career.
But, if they come in new EFL financial rules will force sales.
Transfers, wages and agents fees staying within 70% of revenue will mean boycotting games or staying at home to watch the Liverpools et al will damage the Swans.

We really are on the verge of something really good. Other fans, pundits also agree we could be quality next year. I hope I’m right in that we won’t sell unless forced by the player in the summer. If they’ve invested in Martin for the project, there is zero point in selling those assets that are an integral part to that.
Whatever the owners are they are businessmen, it’s good business to keep your investments until they can mature properly. That would be promotion. Couple of players jn the summer, next yet we could be something special

I’d imagine there’s going to be some horse trading to move thing forward and hopefully Martin will be able to fine tune things and build upon what he’s doing. There’s been some big improvements of late, but there is still much to be done.
Looking at some stuff in the media about parachute payments etc and it set my mind thinking as to what would be the best outcome for the Swans from this year’s Championship play offs ( assuming they aren’t going to be in them). I read teams with parachute payments are 3 times more likely to be promoted, so based on that I think Sheffield United taking the last promotion spot would be the best result as it would mean there’s 1 less team getting parachute payments in the Championship. If Forest went up, the Blades would have the financial edge again next year.

Selling Siggy at that time was the bigger loss. Stats wise he was one of the best players in Europe in 2016/17. £40m was a short term gain but cost us the following season.

The club need to do their best to keep them, or we'll be starting again for another season, if the owners want to progress with a determined desire to get back up to the Premiership, then they will have to, not easy though, if bigger Clubs come calling offering money that's to good to turn down and the Player himself has a desire to go, very little can be done, in all honesty.

With hindsight it was the best decision we ever made given all the stuff we legally aren’t allowed to talk about for some reason.

Sunderland Bolton Middlesborough Stoke Derby Reading have all burned 100 of millions and nothing to show for it.

Swansea s owners have put in up to £10m in a convertible loan note. Around £5-6m has gone into players and have proved a good investment. Piroe, Downes, Obafemi, Patterson Ogbeta and Fisher. these players will have all increased in value so the owners will be comfortable to convert the loan into shares. It will then be 'an investment'.

The owners will want a return on this investment. Silverstein in is the best place as he is buying shares at the low Championship price.

The owners can get this money back by

a) Selling Obafemi, Piroe and Downes for £20m and paying a dividend of £12m and giving £8m back to Martin to re invest. This would see the cub stay in the Championship.
or

b) Making a push for the Premier league by holding onto to them and hoping that they will all improve further increasing their value.

At the end of next season new contracts will be on offer and player will either sign a new deal or be moved on. It is clear the owners will go for the PL return. They gave Cooper Gallagher Brewster Gueghi Ayew Woodman to go for it and the club got close twice.

This season the cub realised it was too big a task and they in my opinion kept their powder dry in January for a proper push 2022-2023.

Didn’t Siggy refuse to go on pre season tour? We had no option then other than sell him. Thaw crap but was it was late in the transfer window if I remember right.

Sadly yes.
Not sure we wouldn't have sold him anyway, but yes he did refuse to go on tour apparently
I cannot imagine us not selling at least one or two this summer.
If by some miracle they held on to those players Martin wants to keep and add a couple of players we could have a memorable season.

I think people need to decide whether they want to do business quickly or demand higher transfer fees, because the two are often incompatible.

We held out almost to the last minute in negotiations with Everton over Siggy, and everyone complained that it left us no time to replace. We accepted a more realistic price for Rodon in order to get things moving, but apparently that was bad too as we sold him on the cheap.

I suspect the club will probably err more on the side of the latter if serious interest is shown this summer, which will upset the people who think we should be getting £25m for Piroe but give RM a lot more time to work with his team and any replacement.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Yes day before he was injured, day after he passed a medical ( which are incredibly stringent )

As long as we don't give them away, then I would prefer to see all business done ASAP.
This gives Martin more time to work with the squad, especially as the season starts earlier this year

A good recruitment team should have ready made replacements better than Clucas ready to go. The sorts of players Carlos was interested in. Gamero etc. Clement was a not proactive enough to block Clucas and Bony 2 and his Sanches pick was awful. One senses Martin is quite firm in this respect.

The ideal is having time and having a replacement. Even when this was in place Swansea went for 'jam today' after selling Rodon with Bennett on huge wages instead of Phillips from Liverpool.

When Swansea got an extra £5m from Everton for GS £1m of it could be an inducement for talented Frenchman or Spaniard as a signing on fee. Always go for young over old. Latibeaudiere will hopefully kick on after a long transition period common in 20 year old. Being WC under 17 championship captain must could for something.

Swansea have been much better selling than buying and this needs to change. The sale of in house developed players helped the club out big time . James, MacBurnie, Rodon and Roberts has brought in in excess of £50m from the PL2 team of 2017.

Rodon 's £11m was the Covid price the market was down and Cabango was in the wings. Fans say he is worth £20m. Conte and Mourhinio say he is not worth the £15m as he is not playing to save the extra £4m for Spurs despite the fact he is a rock for Wales.
