What could possibly go wrong.

How can you hate the queen? She’s done a magnificent job over 70 years and should be admired which if course she is throughout the world.

The monarchy however is a different question. I’m pretty much in the camp that it needs reform and I believe it will over the next two incumbents. Less so with Charles but more with William.

It won’t be abolished in our lifetime though.

Don't care for the monarchy.
Will enjoy the free days off, go down the beach maybe have a bbq if the weather is nice enough.

I don't "hate" the Queen per se.I do hate our monarchy and its largesse however. I fond it repellant and anachronistic .To be refered to as a subject isnt right. Nobody should curtsey or bow to anyone ,in my books. We are all human and all equal. Or we should be.

The term haters is used thus;anti Martin, anti Cooper, anti Welsh, anti Swansea. All crap.

We are not in this together and the Queen and Monarchy should reflect this. They do not.

Meanwhile the Solid Gold Coach is getting a good polish .

Are you sure you mean largesse? That would be something to be admired not vilified.

I agree with the subservience, it’s wrong and anachronistic and something I am uncomfortable with (not personally, never met her but have stood a yard away from her😄).

I believe the reform will (have to) come from within. I believe Charles is keen on a reduced Royal Family so less hangers on hopefully.

One thing, though often disputed is the senior royals work hard for their money. Hazza and Sparkles excepted but they’re not on the list now anyway.

Revered and admired by millions worldwide is U.K royalty

My grandmothers sister emigrated from Pantycelyn Rd Townhill to Detroit and her American born and raised children visited the U.K/Swansea in the mid 1980's.

They love the U.K royal family and are utterly bedazzled and fascinated by it in a most profound way. I was taken aback of how much the U.K meant to them. They even went up to Townhill to see Ma and Pa's old house in Townhill.

The U.K seems to be so important to them and the royal family is central to that. They love our pageantry, ancient history/heritage and buildings e.g. castle and palaces. It's something that the U.S.A does not have. Perhaps some of us take what we've got for granted like the outstanding Gower coastline in our own backyard?

Its a strange one for me, as i cannot see why people would be so obsessed with just a random super rich family. (Although i suppose the US would have their own version with TV people Kardashians etc. Who are weirdly lauded)

On swansea and surrounding areas, now thats something that is definitely taken for granted, so many lovely beaches all across our coast, and lovely mountains and parks. Fantastic.

I like the queen in herself, I think she’s always conducted herself well in general and represented the country well and I love the history of it all but the rest of them are a bunch of basket cases, oddballs and all around degenerates.

I find it hard to see why she is held in such a way as she gives the aura of being detached, distant and she speaks in a way few do these days .

People are really struggling right now and the winter will see real hardships.
When people look at how they live ,they ask questions,as Jamaicans did as Katey smiled benignly as the kids were kept distant in a virtual cage .

Of course she’s distant and detached. Nobody wants their head of state doing the Hokey Cokey down the workies club.

It's not only Americans, other nationalities like the Japanese seem to be rather fascinated by the U.K, its royalty and its tradition that is why so many Japanese visitors can always be found around places like Buckingham Palace gates.

So the U.K, its history, its heritage, its pageantry must be awfully appealing to people from overseas. It's the splendor and uniqueness of it all I guess?

The idea it is attractive to keep them as they are to Yanks and Japs is no reason is no reason for justification.

God Help us if all we can offer are the memorabilia of past centuries when we were pretty beastly to many.

Its not for me, people can like them if they want, but they have no impact on my life and would be quite happy to see them gone. It a historical thing, best off leaving it to history.
Imagine the visitors the palace would get if they were allowed in. Would almost be as good as Versaille.

Yes it is anachronistic but it works in function. What is the alternative to her being head of state in a constitutional sense? President Boris? President Blair? We would have the worst sort of people with the power to sign executive orders on a whim.

Pomp and pageantry are the enemies of reason.

I want to be a citizen, not a subject.

I don't hate the Royals as people, but when Brenda goes then its over, a busted flush.
Prince Andrew deserves to be the man who ended the gravy train. Ych a fi.

At least that would our (UK) own fault.
Instead we are lumbered with whoever falls out the previous monarch or partner.
Lets not pretend that the Monarchy doesnt lobby and forward their own agendas. They are not an unbiased institution themselves.

I saw a list the other day of the 80 most visited destinations in the UK. Buck Palace was around 60 with Kensington Palace around 70.

I thought it was worth mentioning.

So the main reason to keep our monarchy then ,is to attract tourists who swan into London watch the Royals then scoff their sarnies and Fanta then bugger off .

One thing is for sure and that is the entire worlds press/media will be there in U.K capitol to record and show her Jubilee balcony appearance along with the fly-past and adoring cheering crowds.

And when she finishes her reign and when there is a coronation over two billion worldwide will watch it. Extremely profound interest U.K royalty gets worldwide.
