| Nathan Wood on 18:18 - Jun 10 with 2670 views | Dr_Parnassus | Let’s hope we are seeing something that others are missing. Went on loan to Hibs last season, he played in a 3-0 loss in his debut and didn’t feature in another game after that. | |

| Nathan Wood on 18:47 - Jun 10 with 2616 views | dobjack2 | Lack of first team experience- odd game for Boro, loan at Crewe and a solitary game on loan at Hibs in first part of last season. It's stated he has moved to get more games. Stats say 6 foot 2 right footed and has pace. Didn't break through at Boro and his loan at Hibs didn't work out either. Maybe just needs a change of club and style. First Colin then Wilder were at Boro. Does this mean we aren't going to sign a centre back youngster on loan from a Premier League club to keep on the bench or not be in the match day squad this season? | | | |

That's where he was with Boro in the second half of last season. Surprised if he'll have wanted to trade U23 at Boro for U23 here even if he couldn't see any way in at Boro, especially following the signing of Darragh Lenihan.

It's almost as if our finances aren't that limited and people are just spouting off about things they don't understand as usual. We will no doubt sell Piroe for decent cash in order to fund further squad strengthening, but that does not mean we're skint. We are in no way teetering on the financial precipice as others desperately want us to be in order to justify the ceaseless whining. Basically every summer since we got relegated the usual suspects have insisted that we'll have to sell before we buy. Basically every summer since we've got relegated we've bought first.

Time will tell I guess, last summer was good & I'd be happy with a repeat of that. No doubt we need to sell, that's the reality for clubs like ours & if we buy well then I won't be complaining - a repeat of the 400K on Fisher & I won't be happy though.

We'll have hits, we'll have misses. It's the nature of the market. I'll maintain that a big part of the problem with Fisher is the way that we're asking him to play. To my mind he's no worse at most of a goalkeeper's job than DeVries was, and loads of people loved him.

We just can't afford too many misses, 400K when we were in the Premier league was nothing but now it matters far more. My issue with the Fisher signing was that I thought other areas of the team needed strengthening far more & he's no better than we already had.

How does he have a different surname?

He's got a hyphenated one but goes by his mum's surname. Wasn't going to sign a contract extension with them as he wasn't happy with gametime. Didn't impress much on loans or with the u23s. Worry a little that it's a hype not ability signing, but I wondered the same about Piroe who hadn't been tearing up trees in the Eerste Divisie. [Post edited 10 Jun 2022 21:14]

Reminds me of how we used to sign players, maybe his career has stalled a bit despite early promise. Many of our former players who got us promoted from the championship were of a similar vein. Happy to see another centre half come in who looks to have a bit more pace.

Middlesbrough have a penchant for not recognising good players, they let that Louis Spence put on loan to Forest.

😉 From an early age Nathan who uses the surname Wood was noted as an all round athlete, not only as a sprinter but as a high jumper as well. Currently he can complete a clear sub thirteen second one hundred metres time. At thirteen he recorded a time of just over thirteen seconds. He is physically strong with obvious pace and can also play in midfield but prefers playing the the centre of defence on the right side. He is another player that swans boss Russell Martin wants who is pacey and physical with enough attributes to play in any defensive position.

And they're going to be £20m richer for it.

From what Boro fans say it's the physical side of the game he needs to improve. Fast and technical but struggles with the battles.
| Nathan Wood on 22:42 - Jun 10 with 2072 views | magicdaps10 | Seems to be signed from his high potential. He has captained all the England under age teams he has been involved with and Jonathan Woodgate said that he was a future England International when he was at Boro. Had a successful loan spell at Crewe when 18 but had a shocker in his one and only appeatence with Hibs last season. For the fee paid, certainly worth a gamble especially if his attitude can be sorted. | |

Reading it is around 100k. He was out of contract so the fee paid is a compensation training fee as he is under 23.

If that's accurate then it sounds OK - as long as Martin uses him
