The council is currently, and has historically been, held by the Labour Party.

I was being rhetorical as usual. Like Swansea ,Newport loves Labour no matter what.

You never get your facts right, Michelle Donelan has already said she will donate her severance to charity

OK but maybe that rule needs changing, that much severance for 48 hours is a crazy idea.

The facts do not change because they are …. Facts. What the recipient then did does not change that fact. If she donated to charity thats another fact - thats how this works. I accept your apology. Although part of me questions whether the tax payer should be funding the donations to the charity of choice of a Tory MP.

We all knew at the time it was to subside companies like Debenhams Next to take up stores. IMO it was the right thing to do at the time
| Taken for mugs on 09:23 - Jul 8 with 1397 views | onehunglow | Swansea has not exactly benefitted from being a Labour stronghold, has it? The councils of the 70s and 80s were as bad as it gets. | |

| Taken for mugs on 09:41 - Jul 8 with 1385 views | majorraglan | I was recently talking to a manager of a private shopping centre who advised me the company he worked for had to pay incentives to attract and retain major flagship stores at developments which really surprised me. I’d have thought it would be other other way around with companies clambering to open shops but that’s not the case. | | | |

Unfettered faith should never be forthcoming for any council

It was right to give private businesses a bribe to open up stores? Wll apart from disagreeing with that, that's not what it says in the story, the money hasn't gone to those firms but to the Canadian comoany that owns the whole site, they say it's about the rent on empty lots. It stinks Jim, if the tories did this you'd be apopletic.

Cannot argue with DVLA settling in in Swansea , it gave me my first job back in 1975 , have moved on since though , another family member is currently employed there now . My thoughts are , do we need to bribe companies so they bring employment to an area , and do such firms look to the best sweetener available from local authorities . We also now have Government outsourcing to underfunded areas just to look like they care about that place , give them jobs they will then vote for us .

Unfortunately we're now in a situation where the Welsh Govt is doing everything within its power to concentrate opportunity within one small corner of SE Wales. As Kilks' figures show, UK Govt has historically done a much better job at providing opportunity to the entirety of Wales than the Senedd ever has.
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

Exactly, the Senedd should look at leveling up in Wales and not blame Westminster for everything.
