200k a week is a ridiculous wage to be paying anyone for a newly promoted team, absolute insanity

Millionaire every 5 weeks.
Ten million + for one year, free agent.

Agreed, it’s insane.
But if he keeps them up and plays like he did at West Ham ?

Nope total disaster to be spending that in your first season on one player, if he keeps them up then of course its money well spent but i very much doubt he alone can do that no matter how well he played at West Ham

How much have they spent now 70 odd million on fees.
Wage bill must be massive.
200k a week for a player can't think of any other promoted teams spending like that.

We went up 11 years ago and spent about 10m

If they come back down their finances will be interesting.

Not sure what they have spare after the premier league money but I would say it’s still in the black for them.

Cooper is fast letting things get out of his control I suspect. He might wish he was back in the Championship in a few months working under tight financial controls.

I guess it's the same as signing someone for £20 million and paying them £60,000 a week.

As much as I dislike Cooper for previous events here ( I may have commented on it before ), I think he will be enjoying being able to sign players without the financial shackles he has had to work with in the past.
Whether it will pay off is another matter.
As a comparison how much did Brentford spend last summer ?

Financial shackles at Swansea to a certain extent yes.
However he did have Andre Ayew on 90k a week.
He was allowed to sign Ryan Bennett on 23k a week and give Jay Fulton an extended contract for a weekly wage that no other club see as worth it.
He was also backed massively with loan signings such as Brewster, Connor Gallagher and Marc Guehi.
I would argue that his free spending on Bennett and Fulton has contributed to the shackles we are under now.
Cooper has a lot to answer for.

To every extent.

He didn’t sign Ayew. He was hampered by that the whole tenure, it meant he couldn’t bring in his own permanent players or really build anything he wanted. Yet still managed to get the very best out of that squad.

Brewster, Gallagher and Guehi were acquired for next to nothing. Brewster was free.

“His free spending on Bennett and Fulton?”

What shackles do you think we are under now then out of interest? In the last 12 months we have spent £6.4m not including free transfers (Pato, Ntcham, Walsh, Allen) or loan transfers (Williams, Laird, Wolf, Christie, Burns).

We have probably spent more in the last 12 months than any other 12 month period in our football league history. Some shackles eh?

Cooper blew it. He has super elite loans which he himself resourced.

Woodman Roberts Rodon / VdH , Cabango, Guehi, Gallagher, Brewster, Sturridge, Ayew Fulton Grimes Naughton. He scrapped into 6ths after Forest imploded.

One nil up against 10 men and he did not go for it to nail Brentford for good. He was given what he wanted. He did not get the very best out of his team especially Gallagher.

You are racking up the ludicrous posts today, good job.

6th position after taking over a team who finished 10th and lost McBurnie and James, our two best players.

He was given 500k to replace them and used his contacts to get in relatively unknown youth players and get them playing his way.

We were 9th favourites for promotion and exceeded that by coming 6th, only losing to Brentford who were clearly a superior side. The second year he improved it again and equalling Brendan Rodgers points record despite the ineptitude of the board in supporting him in January.

Again only losing to the 3rd best team in the league in Brentford after going down to 10 men to compound it.

Martin was given the most elite loan we have had since relegation and he couldn’t use him, even preferred to play Ryan Manning.

Scary.

Cooper isn’t in charge of the funding being made available nor sits in front of spreadsheets in a suit all day. Lingard has been given a one year deal which will be covered by the promotion/PL income.

Don’t bring sense into this, he’s getting all giddy with bizarre posts at the moment. Don’t confuse him with sense.

I see he is still banging on about Cooper rightly being furious about being given two American off season loans in positions he didn’t need.

Are you saying Cooper did not agree to this deal? He is the manager. If he has been forced to accept this deal he should stick to his principle and walk.

The player was part of the Man utd clique of non performers and good time charlies with Istagram hair dos and childish behaviour. Trouble is brewing.

I’m sure he is happy with a quality player being brought in, but if you think it was his decision then you are living on another planet.

Do you think it was his decision to sign the Americans in January? No.

At least Lingard has a clear use.

In case you missed it Lingard had a fantastic loan spell at West Ham. If Cooper was offered him he no doubt agreed, as would any manager in his position.

If the Notts Forest hierarchy had forced upon him two mediocre unproven players on loan from across the Atlantic to kick off their Premier League tenure then yes maybe he’d walk.

Cooper sulked because he was given two players he didn't want and both were crocked.

Whoever made the decision to sign the pair of them in the first place should have been the ones who should have walked.

Not to mention adding Freeman and Hamer to that January debacle. No idea how much we paid them in terms of agent fees, salary and signing on fees.

Would have probably cost the same to not get any of them and bring in Piroe like he asked.

It’s a bit like asking for an umbrella in the pouring down rain and being given and fork, a pack of cards, a pair of socks and a flip flop and expecting it to do the job.

Cooper signed Gibbs White off a long injury spell as well and he was crocked. Played 5 games and sign up for Swansea's rivals after the club got him fit.
