| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Its always better to get off the beaten track. The motorways are indeed boring, at many points I looked out and could see nothing but flat, featureless farmland as far as the eye could see. It was much better when we hit the mountains. Rheims was nice though back then the Cathedral was covered in scaffold! It was 1991, we were on our way back from Monaco.

I drove down to Toulouse a few years ago, I used a combination of motorway and the old route nationale roads. The former are boring but fast while the latter are slow, but scenic. If you have time to the old roads. A big chunk of the motorway through the middle is free, but the others are toll and the costs can be expensive. Via Michelin is a good route planner, but the times are based on driving at the speed limit so factor in extra time.

Plus we will have 2 dogs with us so don't really want them in the car for days on end. We have a Gite booked for 10 days so we are giving ourselves 2 days down 2 days back Rouen is our 1st stop over as my wife's great Uncle is buried there from WW1 so visiting his grave then stop over for 2nd night at Ponitier. Then not sure about the 2 stop overs coming back up? Any advice going back? [Post edited 25 Jul 2022 11:21]

Depends on the route you take, we use A10 and A62, we usually pick an area that suits our intinery and do some searching on-line.
