They both see themselves as huge players....but like we are seeing with Russia they are not. Both are corrupt to the core and when called on...there is nothing there...their armed forces are shadows of their former selves....it's all been siphoned off. Essentially any country that has no democracy, no free speech is (in my mind and most reasonable people) a Third World country. China and Russia come under that umbella. It also leaves them open to the whims of their authoratarian leaders. That makes them extremely dangerous.
And they also have huge chips on the shoulders. They actually want to be Western as well...note how many Russians and Chinese are fascinated with all the culture, trappings of the West. | |
