Should never have been charged. Camera footage, very unreliable. Prosecution witness runs onto the pitch towards the defendant and then has the audacity to cry foul. |  | | |

It didn't look good at the time, I thought he was sticking the boot in from what I saw, I'm glad that the actual truth is that he clearly didn't, the court perhaps saw different photo's video from what I and others thought we saw. |  |

Is there not a crime of "wasting Police time" or similar. |
Not within the context of this as the police recorded the complaint, and after reaching the CPS threshold test and public interest test the go ahead for a charge and plea or trial was decided.
Wasting police time is more about false reporting, not making an allegation regards an actual incident. It’s a bit like someone who lies in court it’s very rare a charge is preferred. Obviously in every trial ( and this is very simple ) someone must be stretching the truth or lying as there is a weight placed on one part of the evidence than another. Hence a verdict. That’s simplistic there are many other considerations.
But of course if you went to court and offered evidence and it wasn’t believed you wouldn’t expect to be charged with a form of perjury.
