Hits the nail squarely on the bonce. Heroes who were clapped on every doorstep during the pandemic are now traitorous b*st**ds. Gaslighting at its finest .

The governnment seem to have pretty successfully made this about pay - 'We cant afford it" they say. But what does that mean?
I can't talk with any knowledge about other professions, but for nursing and teaching (it's quite likely there'll be a teacher strike in January), there are massive recruitment issues.
If the wage being offered means people just won't take the job, where does that leave us?

Come on now, our Government have supported the NHS. If the NHS workers now followed them and clapped, at least they'll be able to keep their hands warm this winter

You do realise these so called independently pay reviews are run by a govt dept try not to be taken in by the propaganda.
Not only are they run by a government department, the members on the panel are appointed by the government actually tell them what can be afforded before things are considered and determined. It’s a con. Not only that, there have been cases in the past where the Minster responsible for a Dept has actually refused to grant the pay rise recommended by the Pay Review Body, it’s a disgrace. Jeremy Hunt being 1 such minister.
A pay review panel should be completely independent and the government should implement the recommendation. Times are tight, but when it needs to the Government can find money. Liz Truss and Kwarteng’s budget have cost us, the people of the UK tens of billions. They should be investigated for misconduct in public office.!

Certainly some good satire there.

With a corrupt police force because they can’t pay the bills. A military that drops its standards because risking your life isn’t worth it. A nurse who goes sick too often because it’s easier than working for a pittance. A doctor whose end game is private health care solely. A social worker who does nothing when it’s obvious they should because the boss gets the blame.
Too many people sitting in judgement on these professions, and many more who if they entered a blazing house to rescue kids from a bedroom they would shit their pants, let alone take on a steroid driven lunatic in the dark in their own at 3am in the morning.
I’m on a roll.
A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

The problem is people in top jobs get paid too much and minimum wage is too little, these people in the news deserve their pay rise but not as much as people on minimum wage deserve their wages increased far more than its going to go up next financial year. If it was up to me I would squeeze the rich until the pips squeak and redistribute the wealth.
Continually being banned by Planet Swans for Porthcawl and then being reinstated.

In the words of my late grandmother, the rich are like a full boil.

The question is Keith, is that the end game?
You know what comes next; privatisation and services for those that can afford it.
It’ll work for now as there’s still generations of people who bought a house pre mid 2000 who can still afford such things. Unfortunately some of these are the same people who look down on youngsters, saying that only if they stopped eating avocado toast and having a Netflix account they could get on the ladder.
It’s not going to end well.

I'm sorry, I obviously need to increase my sarcasm settings. Maybe I should have capitalised the word "INDEPENDENT" and put it in quotation marks to highlight it.
I've been guilty of it myself, unless people put emoji's up I often miss jokes and sarcasm.
Just like my school reports of old, must try harder.
