| Dreadful again - get out Martin and take your whiteboard with you 19:25 - Dec 27 with 2039 views | Brynmill_Jack | We should have been buried today but Reading’s woeful mediocrity almost allowed us an ill deserved point. The most painfully abject football I’ve seen from a Swansea side since the turn of the century but even then there was drive and a bit of desire. Now our pedestrian and dull turgid style is turning fans away in droves. If the present owners have any ambition for this club they should just cut our losses and jettison this passionless excuse for a football manager. He’s the biggest fraud since Cullis - I honestly think he’s taking the p*ss! Get out ! | |

Yanks panicked skintitiss after QPR n8 said no and then dived at first job interview in the job centre. We always concede first
| Dreadful again - get out Martin and take your whiteboard with you on 21:43 - Dec 27 with 1638 views | ReslovenSwan1 | Martin has exclusively for 4 seasons managed in the lower and middle part of the table. He has a good run of 7-8 games then a bad run of 7-8 games. This season as middle as it could possibly be P24 W8 D8 L8. It was his choice to play 3 rookie centre backs no one else's. After last season 1-5 fold against Forest lack of strength and athleticism were highlighted. Sorinola was never the answer to that one. The Owners are business people and accepted like I did that Martin and his style needs time and patience. Playing out from the back is the way to go for Swansea despite tonight's rickett. Benda had a bad night. Last season P46 Pts 61. Points per game 1.32 GD -10. This season so far P24 Pts 32 Pointts per game 1,33. GD -4 Last season was disappointing and flaky with good patches. This season is almost identical so far. It is also similar to Martin's tenure at MK Dons. Swsne are creating more chances but last season had a red hot Piroe. The conclusion is Martin ball is a style of play designed to survive comfortably in the league but not challenge at the top of the table. Any Owner would therefore ask Martin how he is going to change the dynamic of this mid table grind. A nice team with nice players. Grimes is a nice captain. Changes are necessary now. The owners should force Martin to bring in a discipline man. Colin Calderwood was discussed earlier in the season and the club instead went for the safe cheap option of Christian O'Leary. Martin it seams cannot get a points ratio over 1.4 for one reason or another despite staff changes. The target is 2 points per game History suggests another improved run is overdo. Absolutely was not “ dreadful “. The game unfortunately hinges on two moments that Benda will want to forget in a hurry. The second wasn’t helped by Joe Allen who was too slow to react to the wayward pass. If he’d been quicker to react he’d have got to the ball. He strolled around all evening didnt he until rightly subbed. We had more goal attempts than them. Obviously far more ball possession and they hardly managed to string two passes together. They were bad goals to concede but even then we deserved at least a point. Still only a few points off third. I can see us finishing in the top 8 if Piroe can get his act together. That said we need more pace going forward. We looked much better when the three substitutions were made. In the most competitive division in Europe we in with a shout. Not bad considering we like to sell our best players these days. 😀 | |

By your own admission Nigel he picked the wrong side from the start. He’s done that quite a few times now. Dreadful? Yes and that’s an understatement

He started Allen, everyone wanted that. He started Cooper, ditto. Darling came in, most at the game seemed happy with that. Sorinola is a no from me but there it is. What other limited options does he have ?

I would love to know what people expect a manager able to do with this squad, he is on a hugely limited budget, brought in some quality but unfortunately that quality mainly Piroe and Obafemi had their heads turned, Piroe seems to have taken it a lot better than the man baby Obafemi though, i agree he doesn't put out in my opinion the best squad but they do feature eventually, I honestly believe Obafemi has caused a whole volcano of problems with his terrible attitude, lets not kid ourselves here, we were not in a position to pick and chose a new manager and are still not, if the blame goes anywhere it goes to the owners who want to wing it on a shoestring budget, i see quote a few people saying they want Martin out but they never tell us who we could replace him with, considering his restrictions i think he has done as well as could be expected

Its not down to us is it? We are halfway through the season, in a position where we could get into the play offs , or a relegation battle...our form?????? At one stage if you looked at the points we threw away we could have been in the top 2 easily, and thats without really performing, I think we have only looked good in a hand full of games. We are guessing there's player unrest/toys thrown etc, but I have no idea what, I am just going on what he said on the Scots trip, how things went well etc, doesnt look it to me. In any event its down to the owners , a gamble stick with it, or alter it, a play off place or relegation battle are both staring us in the face. On seeing some of the other Championship teams lately, we are a long way from promotion material. I just hope the owners are watching, and care.

If he s on a tight budget then adapt the level of tactics to the standard of player. We can’t play as Russ seems to want .We don’t have the quality . Few teams have

Performance tonight was a massive improvement, but apart from our recent awful defending conceding avoidable goals, I think the important thing tonight ( apart from not conceding 1st ) is that we took our opportunities ( well 4 of them ), on Tuesday we had 12 attempts 7 on target, tonight we had 15 attempts with the same 7 on target, hopefully Piroe has found his scoring boots and he goes on a good run of form, that, along with the others who've chipped in could get us back on track, as Badlands pointed out in another thread, we play well against teams who come to play, it's the 11 men behind the ball teams we have trouble breaking down, hence the high percentage of possession they're happy to let us have the ball and do us on the counter, tonight we showed a bit more grit and determination in our closing down and tackling, long may it continue.

He’s not on a hugely limited budget. He’s spend more than most of the managers in the league. That myth needs to die. If managers aren’t important then why do we have one?

He has spent around £5m on his own just in transfer fees and been the beneficiary of millions of pounds worth elsewhere just before he arrived such as Piroe. That’s not to mention very expensive free transfers headed up by Ntcham, but the likes of Pato and Joe Allen also come under that. I can’t think of another manager who has spent that over that period of time in the football league, apart from Potter. A third of this league has spent nothing and another third barely spent anything. We are in and around the top third of budgets, in transfer fees, in salary, in squad value. I have no doubt about that. In terms of our history, that’s an extreme luxury. Most of my Swansea supporting life outside the PL we genuinely did have among the lowest budgets in the league.
