| The Swansea city business model no longer works. 18:05 - Jan 31 with 1663 views | ReslovenSwan1 | The Swansea city model is trying to achieve sustainably and growth with the eventual aim of a return to the Premier league. This will be done by:- a) Developing home grown players . Benda, Cooper O, Cabango, Cullen and keep them on long contracts with below average wages. b) Developing imported prospects bought cheaply and developed out on loan. Whittaker Joseph. Brandon Cooper Dan Williams Webb home grown. c) Use cheap or free loan players to keep wage bill down to fill up the squad. (Oko Flex Stevens, Cundle) d) Buy good prospects cheaply Downes, Wood, Piroe Darling and develop. e) Trading - Sell a player for a significant fee every season. Rodon £11m, Roberts and Lowe £5m Downes £14m , Obafemi £4m The problem is that selling players is becoming increasing difficult. The Downes sale was not typical. There is not so much money around these days. Unless a player really kicks on unexpectedly Swansea cannot rely on a £10m cash injection each year and perhaps £3-£4m is the best they can do. The supposed business model a has a £6m notional deficit. The US owners persuaded to buy Clucas and Bony in the past will look at Patterson and groan and think stung once again. "we never learn". Martin has to get that guy playing having persuaded the Board to give him a pay rise. If this part is so crucial why do Swansea have an inexperienced rookie in the job. Marsh looks early thirties. The owners do not have the time or money to waste Whittaker's development time somewhere else. Another guy Martin has to get flying. Schumaker did it in Plymouth. If he cannot I have a good idea. "What is the dialing code for Plymouth?" [Post edited 31 Jan 2023 18:11]

Unfortunately this comes with one of the models employed by the current owners - sign free/cheap players that have stalled, clubs don’t want etc. Essentially a punt which is going to come with risks of disruptive players (Patterson), injury prone players (Walsh) etc. The develop to sell for mega bucks was always going to come to an end and is poor business planning if the yanks thought it was sustainable.

Swansea should never bring in players like Patterson even on a free. MIn his case he performed better on lower wages. When WBA came in he could not get out quick enough. He was given a pay rise and not performed since. The business model has come to an end partly due to Covid and the lack on money in the economic market place with increasing energy and labour costs and of course Brexit.

A lot of anger out there aimed at them as it stands.

As long as people pay at the turnstile and sponsors keep paying they won’t give a toss. Revenue is king not whingeing supporters.

"These Yanks " did sustain the club through Covid with the convertible loan note. £10m plus They found some guy from Portland Oregon to help them. All the Welsh butties did a runner except the king 'Sellout' who sponsors the stadium and kit. Chwarae teg. Where is the Welsh money? The Trust worth £20m+ 6 years ago. Run by fans and absolutely useless. Fans are angry? They own either 21% of the cub or 15% of the club. So democratic nobody actually knows. All the loser disappeared and took their barking dogs with them. £880k in the bank last time i looked.

Nobody to argue the toss on the trust anymore since Chief packed up and left. Don't think anyone takes them seriously now just the owners puppets sadly. [Post edited 31 Jan 2023 19:51]

The trust has changed significantly from the Trust that saved the club from petty and sent him off back to his bedsit in Australia. No one takes them seriously now, last I heard they were thinking of trying to increase membership numbers by giving out free membership out to season ticket holders, providing the club would agree [very doubtful], such is their lack of popularity. Basically they've now become a nonentity, the Liberty cat has more say these days.

Kindly no. Swansea city fans wanted to be owners. this is good. They wanted responsibility They wanted their man in the VIP seats. They wanted to be involved in decisions They wanted £400,000 in dividends an got it They wanted £500,000 in compensation. What do they do again?. A couple of good podcasts recently. A grand or two for good causes perhaps. The past leadership should be called out and apologise to the club for all the stress they caused.
