I skied in Lake Tahoe the week after Sonny Bono was killed there. A few way too soon jokes of questionable were traded that trip.

Much safer pasttme now that everyone wears helmets. I feel lucky to have survived it before that, the way I ski.

Why people shove some sticks on the feet then cascade down a mountain has always puzzled me.
The lift takes then up again .
Rinse and repeat

It was lovely to be up there on a snowy mountain, but as for actually coming down on two skis it was a bit pointless

I can see the thrill once, maybe twice. But to actually go on a skiing holiday and do nothing else would for me be an incredible waste of time and money.

You only typically ski between about 10 and 4. It’s dark the rest of the time in winter in the northern hemisphere. Some places have night skiing but that costs more. Then in the evening there’s loads going on great restaurants and bars entertainment etc.

Been to the Crazy horse cabins in Levi Lapland a few times and the front slope is lit up until around 8pm lifts with ski lifts still running and its great, night life is pretty shit though although we used to get beers from supermarket and used to visit the local pub near the skiing centre, but its expensive and underfoot used to be bordering on dangerous with the ice, which was rarely cleared unlike parts of Austria we've been to.

First time we went to Borovets Bulgaria there was a gang of us all first timers and I remember my Mrs taking out 3 or 4 others no harm down just fits of laughter thankfully, she couldn't get to grips with the snow plough technique of stopping

We were just talking about Gwyneth Paltrow and I mentioned it, I kept a safe distance though

I went to Borovets in 1998. I was working in Turkiye and went with two coach loads of Turks from Istanbul. I got friendly with some English speaking skiers. After 2 or 3 days I asked them where are all hits Turkish mates are, at the lift as I did not see any on the slopes.

"they are all in bed mate" he replied. Next time on the lift I asked him why.

"Turks do not ski they a have been in the casino all night in Sofia".

Casinos are banned in Turkiye .

Skiing is great to see the scenery and get fresh air, Done Italy, Austria, Switzerland, France, Turkiye, Romania, Bulgaria and Georgian Republic.
