The Swans are fully aware of the interest in their three players but are going to hold out for the best offers this summer window. 0 If you want to remove this post from the board index, just click the hide post icon below. | Fulton, Grimes and Piroe rumours just won’t go away on 09:09 - Jun 19 with 3005 views | Fireboy2 | Yet another great article. I get why the owners of both clubs are sticking to their guns but its turning into a f@cking sitcom, our players don't know what's going on and if they aren't careful they could lose out on duff which would be a travesty.
| Fulton, Grimes and Piroe rumours just won’t go away on 16:44 - Jun 19 with 2797 views | SullutaCreturned | Some of us have been saying this for a while, others were insisting we shouldn't be bullied and hold out for top dollar. Now here we are, on the brink of another pre-season of chaos. How much money will we actually hav gained and will it be worth all the chaos? Will we have another manager blaming a lack od pre-season for any struggles? Will we have players who may have stayed looking to leave because of the chaos? Will we hve players left here who the new manager might quickly have decided to move on? Pragmatism should have ruled but instead we got yet more American bull headed nonsense. | | | |

What load on nonsense. An incoming manager is pending and all his squad are around a pool somewhere. Cooper, Cabango and and Cullen have Cymru on their mind and will have time off anyway and will not go to Spain. The club know what players they want and the incoming manager knows what he wants and is asking about his budget. It looks like there will be at least £250k perhaps £500k extra for the three week delay. Swansea signing have always been a joint effort. Martin had Piroe "foisted" on him and might well have rejected the player. It is the same for Duff or who ever comes. Swansea will welcome offers for players running down their deals. Grimes might want to join Martin. Swansea will tell Duff his budget depends on outgoings plus £x million. If there were no issues to resolve then Swansea could sack all their staff. deadline are good for getting things done. Loans players do training with their own clubs and Premier league teams will not be hustled.

Actually the delay is so Southampton can pay less, not more. The incoming manager isn't here yet, hasn't taken a close look at his options so how does he know what he needs? We only approached him a few days ago. Duff's budget, if previous windows are to go by will not depend on outgoings, he will get X amount and be told to develop the young players because that seems to be the model the owners want. I think Keith said he'd be surprised if he got 3 million to spend. You can't just sack al your staff, they have contracts, there are laws. If you did who would come work for you? Dealines are also good for missing out on players because you can't get business done in time. Who said anything about EPL teams being hustled? Stop making stuff up. WHEN the new manager is in place then he needs to appoint his staff and do their first training session, get to know the players etc BUT we can be fairly certain that come our first game Piroe and Grimes won't be here, maybe Fulton will have left too but I hope he stays. If you think that all of that incoming money plus more will be givento Duff then you are bonkers. It won't happen.

Duff won’t get outgoings plus xmillions. Research his transfer record as a manager and you’ll soon see why the yanks find him appealing.

| Fulton, Grimes and Piroe rumours just won’t go away on 13:44 - Jun 20 with 2234 views | Dr_Winston | If, as mooted, the wage bill has been hacked back from the level it was last year then one or two big sales should provide a decent surplus instead of just going towards keeping the lights on. As in previous campaigns, if there is money available then it is spent. Not always wisely, but it is. | |

I think those fans who were spolied by the Premier league years expect that we should still spend big, some don't seem to understand (or maybe are not bright enough to grasp) that our budget these days is vastly reduced and what we spend depends very much on sales as much as income. Some of those fans think the owners are milking us for millions when there is zero evidence of that. If we got 10 million for Piroe, 5 for Grimes, 3 for Fulton and 2 for a couple of others combined there is no way Duff would get all 20 plus X amount more to spend. it's much more likely he'd get 5-7 million with another 5-7 million put aside for the wages and other fees with the rest going in the bank. Which wouldn't be the 6-10 million not spent because we'd have paid whatever taxes out of it.
| Fulton, Grimes and Piroe rumours just won’t go away on 09:55 - Jun 21 with 1908 views | Badlands | Grimes easily replaced by Ntcham or Walsh playing central midfield. Piroe might be replaced by Grant if we could get him or by changing approach slightly and giving Whittaker and Cullen more game time. Luca Connell has been suggested as a player we could bring from Barnsley with Duff (if he's appointed) and would fill the position. But Fulton, ironically given his time in the Swansea wilderness, would be difficult to replace. Unless there was a change of formation which is unlikely, as Duff regularly use Connell in a deep midfield position, Jay has a lot of experience and has played well since Martin realised our midfield needed a degree of defence. The main position we will need to fill are full back / wing backs. | |

Grimes easily replaced by Walsh or Ntcham, I don't think so ,neither have shown to date they have physical capacity to consistently maintain 90minutes + .For his faults either real or precieved Grimes has shown he is extremely fit with him missing game time down to a bare minimum

| Fulton, Grimes and Piroe rumours just won’t go away on 12:01 - Jun 21 with 1764 views | Dr_Winston | Ntcham has certainly demonstrated that he has the capacity to last 90 minutes. Indeed he always has done. The belief that he didn't was a misconception based on Russy's tendency to take him off on the hour no matter how well he was playing. However, playing him in the Grimes role would be a huge mistake. He doesn't have the skillset or temperament for it. He is much, much more effective playing in a central or advanced role where he can attack the penalty area. Fulton could replace Grimes and the team wouldn't miss a beat. That's always been the case. | |

I don’t believe either of those players have the ability or discipline to play that roll as they’re both far more comfortable and effective at carrying the ball forward looking at creating in the final third. I think keeping Grimes is key if we want to keep our passing game, we just need to bring in players with speed especially at wingbacks which will give Grimes more options and allow him at times to move the ball quicker.

Maybe only the Manager will know why he wasn't starting nor when he did, complete games , but if you know better then I bow to your superior knowledge but my memory of the season gone are he appeared to fade badly when starting and on his first season he was a late contender to start due to his previous lack of game time .

There was always a mooted belief that he was better off the bench. Some put that down to him not being fit enough to play for 90 minutes. For me it was because we invariably had to chase games when we brought him on and he was always more effective when we were on the front foot as a team. Starting him in the tediously slow, pass, pass, pass style that was Martin's Plan A was never going to get the best out of him. It was like giving him a pair of lead boots. We could see the difference in the last couple of months of last season when he was finally allowed to be the player he can be. I'd like to build the midfield around him next season, but obviously given the contract situation any serious offers would have to be considered.

FWIW, If we could keep Allen fit next season he can fill in for Grimes, at least for an hour and we'd have the eason to find the right player (ok at least til january. Ntcham should be played as the attacking player he always was. I'd like to see Joseph given a fair crack next season too. I'd like Fulton to stay. If we went 4-2-3-1 and put Joe and jay in the holding positions we could be quite solid. Ultimately we need to see who is still here net season. I'd like to see the attacking midfield of Cooper, Ntcham, Whittaker but 2 of them may not be here so all the speculation could be entirely pointless.

Yeah I read that after I'd posted. 352 isn't a problem as long as we have proper wide midfielders and not full backs pushed into absurdly high positions and labelled wing backs. Duff also likes a strong press and quick movement, the more I read the more I like.
