Could duff convince Piroe to stay? 15:57 - Jul 15 with 3266 viewsRhonddaSwans

New system better manager no more pass pass back to the keeper pass pass give the ball away concide.
.If Piroe is impressed by duff surly the best place to be is here for one more year. Not being funny but Leicester, Southampton or Leeds will never love him as much as we do. Plus the 20 mil price tag the way they see him they think he will be scoring 3 a game .
One more year release cause for a top flight club. I got a good feeling that we can add Duff's style to the technical style we have been playing and contend this year.
Like when Brendan completed our style last time.
All we need is a Scott Sinclair 2.0 + borini type loan in January.

It wouldn't make any financial sense for him to stay from our point of view. From his possibly, stay and take a massive signing on fee next July. But I still think he would prefer to join a Premier League club now.

I agree but the radio silence on clubs that are interested in him is deafening.

I should of put could Duff get Joel to sign a year extension,
The problem is there is no premier league clubs bidding for him.
The Everton rumour is just not going to happen they are skint and are going to be in real trouble next year,
The Forest rumour might have legs but would he fit in there with their 30+first team players.
The only clubs that have been linked are relagation fodder.
The clubs in the championship linked
Leicester, Leeds and Southampton it's very unlikely that all 3 will go up this year, so he could end up 1-2 years in the championship anyway.
Where one more season 20+goals again surely a Fulham or Brentford would come in for him. That's if we are not promoted in the same period.
I think this all comes down to money, he should be the clubs highest earner hands down.
Make the man an offer he can't refuse, the other lads in the squad know if they deal with it and accept that with piroe the whole squad would end up with possible promotion bonuses at the end of the season it should happen.

The only down side I can see Joel breaks his leg first game of the season I would go down as the biggest mistake since boddie.

I don't see that as a problem, there are 6 weeks left of the window and although I would like this settled sooner, the thought of him and Yates up front for four matches is tasty.

If he signs a year extension fine, but I wouldn't, would you. I'd sit it out until September the offer will come in.

Heart I would stay, head it has to be money football is a short career .
supprised no Saudi club has come in for him. I guess in the next few years when all these look at us signings have finished. The smaller clubs out there in their top flight will be scouring the lower leagues.
The radio silence has been deafning makes you wonder where the rumors come from.(greedy agents)

Piroe has stated many times that his own personal development is a prime concern of his. He was a big promising player at u17 u18 level and was linked with Juventus.

Sent on loan he lost his way and value and was getting 10 mins here and there like Whitaker is today. Going to Fulham would be no good for him if he is on the bench. Hi career would stall again.

If he like Duff he might consider another year depending on whether he thinks he is ready for the Premier league or he prefers playing for Martin. Swansea can presumably find another £100k to keep him happy financially.

We would need to increase his salary by about £1M a season to rent him to stay in the Championship.

This short career thing irritates me, in the real world when one job ends you have to find another, why should footballers be any different?

I bumped into Dudley Lewis in Asda last week, doing his shopping still in his Posties uniform. Gary Richards, Gary Emmanuel and Nigel Stevenson are on a long list of ex pros who took another job. Times have not changed for the better.

No Saudi club has come in for him because he's not famous enough, they want top EPL players to advertise their league with, Piroe is still a relative nobody.

Only way that works for me would be Piroe signing a 1-year extension to his current contract with an agreed EPL club release amount, say £15M.

If Duff produces the miracle & we go up he’d have no need to leave if we don’t he leaves in the Jan or next summer window at the agreed £15M.

Obviously carries the serious injury risk but not much, other than insurance, you can do about that.

The only way he stays is if the money is better than elsewhere so it does not really matter what the manager say`s and he certainly is not going to stay out of the kindness of his heart now is he.

It’s going to be more a case of whether Piroe gets a Prem/top European league offer.

I wouldn’t be going to Southampton, Leeds or Leicester if I were him.

Unfortunately he's got think of himself if there's a big offer on the table elsewhere, he could sign another season with us then have a career ending injury on August and that contract would never be there zgain

He might want to head to Europe. His record deserves better than a struggling PL club. I think it’s been stated as fact that he won’t sign on again so we have got get the best deal for us and him. Sad to see him go though, could go on to great things if it clicks for him.

In fairness he has stated since early last season he was not signing an extension.
It's like any employee giving notice.
We will have to sell him this window to get any decent return on him.

And that return could be essential to Duff's plans for strengthening the squad and maybe a genuine push at the top 6.

We could easily invest the Morgan Whittaker money into a piroe contract and still make every penny back and them some another 20 goal season then the big boys will move for him.

And that means paying bigger wages and getting a return as opposed to signing a possible dud

If Whittaker wanted to stay in the Championship which is unlikely, his next contract it would cost over £1M a season extra on top of his current salary and would totally unbalance our wage structure causing massive problems for team moral. He wants to play at a higher level its us who want to cash in. Remember he hasn't asked for a transfer and nobody has met our valuation so currently he is staying.

He and Walsh, as a unit, injuries permitting, could see us easily in play offs position

He'll be gone, but io just hope he gets his wish for a move to the EPL, but I can see him ending up at Leeds or Leicester unfortunately for him and probably us, as it'll surely water down the fee.

I can too and if one of them come in now, he may well bide his time until the end of the window in case there’s a PL option.
