Galbraiths contract seems to have been under negotiated with regard the release fee. We instigated fresh contract talks purely to raise the release fee, nobody can blame Galbraith for being reluctant to accept what he conciders a poor offer because he would be giving up the possibility of a large signing on fee elsewhere. If Gorringe can't sort this out after what appears to be a very poor negotiation start by the club serious questions need to be asked. Gorringe seems to have drastically cut staff in several key areas of the club without thinking about the long term impact on the club. Hopefully the owners can see all this and are making plans to rectify these issues, if they delay we will going into the new season undercooked. The problems are deeper than Galbraiths contract.

I know they have to make positive announcements and spin it with "our visions are aligned" and all that usual waffle but I wonder if maybe their stance has changed a bit ? The turnover of staff could be coincidence or it could be something more worrying We'll soon find out no doubt.

The turn over of staff and indeed putting people he knows into positions at the club. The same was done at Bristol Rovers much to the clubs annoyance which is repeated all over their forums.

Since that's the consensus, then treat him as such and offer him "a most valuable player in your squad" contract. You really don't want to futch around with something like this.

In my opinion Vipotnik is our most valuable player and Galbraith can't expect the same.

Okay, then would you agree/say that Galbraith is our 2nd most valuable player? If yes, then pay him as such.

Yes but I think its more complicated than that. I'll use hypothetical figures, if as I believe he is on about £9K a week and has a buyout of about £6M at that he can sign for another club and over double his wages and get at least a £3M signing on fee. How much should the club offer him to increase the buyout to £12-14M, bearing in mind it could reduce his bargaining power in negotiations with other clubs.

I doubt he has a buyout in his contract. If he did he'd be gone by now

He has and thats the problem. He couldn't be gone by now because the window isn't open and there has only been one since he signed.

Someone would have triggered it in Jan if it was that low. We'll find out next month anyway if he doesn't sign. If he does have a release clause it'll be £10m+ imo, which we'd obviously want to get increased

It is. Edit, apologies. It would be if agreement is made.

If he doesn't sign and goes you will be amazed how low the fee will be. Plus remember there will be a sell on to pay. You can bookmark this.
