If the prisons are overcrowded, let out the women, the thieves, tax fiddlers, those who are in for not committing crimes of violence. All Governments of all parties need a short sharp look at themselves [Post edited 4 Aug 11:06]

The risk of being a victim of crime drops sequentially by age, with over 75s being at the lowest risk.
There are some crimes that that age group are particularly susceptible to, but overall it’s the safest age to be.

Just like the Manchester Airport attack detail is being lost in the assessment and people are acting emotionally and consequently losing the detail. In the Manchester case the second brother was found not to a have assaulted an armed officer when details were assessed in detail. This caused outrage.
In this case the driver of the car and the two passengers were given 16 years and 13 years for the passengers. I suspect as youngster most of us have at some point been in a car with a young lad driving irresponsibility. I have and i hated it. All three were linked to a theft.
It seems only the passengers will be eligible for release NOT the driver, who carries most of the blame. Presumably their sentences were enhanced over a lack of remorse and conspiracy afterwards.
"While the government revised the scheme to exclude rapists and serious child sex offenders, Justice Secretary Alex Norris confirmed that Albert Bowers and Jessie Cole remain eligible for early release. Because they were convicted of manslaughter rather than murder, they fall within the parameters of the scheme. Henry Long, due to his longer sentence type, is not eligible".

why are prisons full well no one fears going into one, why not use the miltary style ask ANYONE who has been in one would they relish going back,? far too many do gooders and little or no disaplin in the home doesn't help | | | |
