 | News Comment | Swans focus : Anthony Backhouse : Is he fit to referee ? by Jackdaw at 12:43:03
He refs at the standard we've come to expect from EFL refs. He definitely got the memo that says 'no pens for Swansea City'. EFL standard makes it difficult to say what fouls are going to be given such is the random nature of the decision making and theres even inconsistency about where on the pitch the foul/no foul occurred. |
 | News Comment | Ipswich 3 Swansea City 0 : What a shocking mess ! by RodgerTheDodger at 00:27:52
I have long thought that we need an independent body to analyze and grade referee's performance, without bias or favour. Every club can name referees who will give them a raw deal, every time. The way to expose that is with neutral analysis and numbers, and then pressure the FA to not assign a referee to matches where the numbers show that they just don't like one of the teams playing. If nothing else, it would make referees think about their performance in ways that they clearly don't now. |
 | News Comment | The Swans & Leo Walta : Swansea Independent scouting report from Olle Söderholm by tredwyn at 18:07:04
Do Swansea really need another quite-good midfielder.? We bought three last summer and got another on loan, allowing a better player, O'Brien, to leave and condemning two or three promising academy graduates to the wilderness. Strengthening is one thing multiplying the numer of average players is another. We also splashed on two strikers, one crocked after under-achieving and the other going out on loan it seems. Get better players or save the money! |
 | News Comment | Swansea City win again at home but frailties exposed by Supermac at 10:24:32
Agree with the vast majority of the editorial and comments from johnjubal Making better decisions at key times in the game is a "must do better" area for us. I cannot agree with your assessment of Ronald and apart from his shot in the first half I fail to see how he merits a 7. We need a winger with pace, ball control and ability to cross or thread the ball into one of our players in the box. I and most of the people around in our section of the West Stand were surprised to see him last the 90 minutes. I would love to see Ronald up his game for us but last night was a 5/6 for me. |
 | News Comment | Frustration again as Matos gets his first draw as Swans head coach by johnjubal1958 at 09:30:11
We need to overload the box when the wide men come to deliver the crosses. Their defence are in caution mode and they just want to get that ball as far away as they can. If they do then we can deal with the aftermath of that. With the pinball option as the crosses come in with numbers in the box it becomes a free for all right! We did see it against Birmingham City at times and wow, it was great football to watch!!! I'm confident when those efforts go in, it will have a knock on effect as the instincts take over! I was great to see Ben hitting those diagonal balls when they were trying the press. It got us out of jail and all of a sudden we were on the front foot again. Reminded of the Ashley Williams day's who did it so well for the Swans and Wales! Patience is called for because I see it coming together nicely and I'm enjoying the football! . I just needs to click and somethings it can take a longer than hoped for. It there for all to see and hitting the bar three times again a half decent side isn't bad at all. I never take a win for granted because it has a habit of coming back and bitting you on the ass. It's on the day and prepping the player's, and that is where the coach comes into his own! |
 | News Comment | Swansea City : Just how many chances do you need ! by johnjubal1958 at 09:39:07
I was of those who put head in hand then putting my hand out in front of me saying What was that? Yep, we dominated this in far more ways than in the league game last week! The one outstanding thing for me was the players willingness to run at the defence (which I referred to after the WBA game last last week!). What I saw was those gaps opened up I mentioned and balls played into those gaps for others to run on to successful. Ronald really benefited from it and his cross into the box were excellent. There were no one coming in to meet them. I saw many great things happening in and around the box because it was evident even the player's were enjoying it! I think Matos is building something special here! Yes, we out played and classed West Brom but it was just a cup game. Yes it's always great to good on a cup run but it can also hamper for the well established reasons! The penalty shootout was a fun time for the fans. They did everything to put off the apposing team, after all fans want their team to win right. Far does to West Brom they didn't let them bother them. They took all their penalties well as we did but it's inevitable someone cracks, pot luck right! I sense once this pattern clicks we are going to see goals, goals and more goals. The amount of times I've head Andy Robinson on BBC radio about just running at the defence runs into 3 digits. He and Trundle made an art of it that was very successful at it! Of course Trundle made a joke of it with his ever end tricks he had in in is locker! As Robo would say, "stick to the basics and you won't go far wrong!!! |
