First half I really thought the four-year war of attrition on our defence and defensive midfiled was having an effect at last - every Watford player looked a foot taller, a yard faster and twice as wide. It was really scarey, and Capoue was immense - sign the fcker now!

As it turned out we grew into the game and looked competent and even quite tasty in the second half. I thought Tadic was outstanding - this could be his season. Agree with Nick's report that Austin should have come on a lot earlier and that we HAVE to replace Yosh ASAP. Pied looked great.

ON that performance I can't see 5th place this year yet, but we definitely won't go down :oD

A great pity that Romeu had to be substituted so early on. The first goal was caused by Fonte, who was marking Zlat, being distracted by the advancing Pogba with only Clasie to challenge him. The second goal was a neddless clumsy foul by Clasie.
Apart from that the defense had a good solid feel about it and when we attacked we put Man u under some pressure but no-one looks like putting the ball in the net. It's going to be a tough season but we are not that bad a team and I'm sure we will have a few victories to celebrate

I thought we played well generally but were let down by some sloppy passing, Tadic had a very off game, Fonte looked slow, VVD was solid, we created chances but lacked clinical finishing. It was a good effort but an obvious gulf in quality despite Man U never looking to be on top form

Aceofthe base is right - I think Romeu would have made a more physical midfield. I like Clasie, but he is more of a precision player than a blunt force player, which was needed last night against Pogba. Saints need to take their opportunities. I think JayRod is a more pure goal scorer than Shane and should be given a chance. We didnt play poorly, but had to really chase the game after the penalty and it changed out gameplan. On to the next one.

ugg, I take back a previous post. Classie is lightweight and his presence in the team affects others performances. Puel should have seen we were playing a team of giants and having Classie and Soares (who had a good game) was a high risk.

I thought we passed the ball really well and all of the team except Redmond had a good or decent game. There wasn't an obvious gulf between the sides.

We still need a striker who can hit the target. It has been a problem for a few years and was apparent again last night.

We played ok at times but glaringly obvious we need one or maybe 2 strikers that will give us the goals we miss from Mane and Pelle.

Clasie nearly as bad as JWP, Davis totally pointless near their goal as usual, Forster can't save a shot as usual. Targett tried, bless him, but should be replaced forthwith and loaned out. Need midfielders and a goalie pronto or positions 14-20 beckon for certain. Hodge/VVD/Tadic good, Redmond will be ok.

Well was not expecting that performance....PNE closed us down and worked hard we seemed a bit lacking in ideas. At the back Smithies seemed unsure punching when in the past he caught and the bad punch led to the first goal.On the positives Elkarty made a difference when he came on giving us much needed width an area we are clearly lacking. The wind did not help but PNE had to deal with that as well and coped better. The hitting it up to Seb does seem to be working and Preston pretty much had him under wraps. Bad day at the office hopefully better next week.

Bright in the first half.

Poor in the second.

Need a new central defender and someone to lead us.
