Some one saying on WATRB that the Supreme court has thrown out the appeal placed against us and Warren Farm is a goer! Good news if true!

If Rangers are serious about funding free community facilities for a local council in return for scrub land, then make an offer elsewhere.

That area where the dry ski slope in Uxbridge has been laying idle for years: is that an option? In fact rolling west along the M40 I’m sure something exists?

As for the stadium: we’ve been moving out of Loftus Road for the last 40 years; and we’ll continue to do so for the next four decades as well. Let’s get one thing done at least, the training ground should be considerably easier than a stadium and is arguably more pressing.

Theyve been here nearly 10 years. I think thats a big IF.

yeah, if we judge them on what they've done, as opposed to what they've said, it's not great.

Some new quotes here from LF. Fairly confusing article, I think he's saying we're hoping to be in by the start of 2021/22 but can also be read as we're hoping to have started work by then. Either way, allegedly still pressing ahead...

Thanks Clive.

See what you mean - 'Found our home' is a little confusing but as you say he has said we WILL be starting work.

Mr LB - get that hat out!

Much as I would love L to have to consume his fedora (for the right reasons of course) there is not much in that article to suggest he needs to build up his appetite just yet.

A slight sign of good news, that is all. At least the topic has been discussed.

Let's be fair - that's the news we've been waiting for. So it's good news.

As Clive says, the article's a bit unclear about the timeline. On one hand it says "close to breaking ground" which is topsoil strip and the start of the main contract, on the other it mentions as beginning of 2021/22 season but it's unclear whether that's completion or commencement.

It also lists current works - ecological testing.

To be fair Les is probably the wrong person to be asking about the training ground, I doubt he's that hands on with the construction process, so not surprised the details he gives are a little confusing. The main takeaway is that he still thinks it's going to happen which as you say is good news.

Checking for asbestos that we actually know is there?!?!
The buildings there are riddled with it – I’m bloody positive there was some direct quotes from over a year ago that tests for ACM’s had been done and specialist clearance required??????

I would absolutely LOVE to eat my hat; I hand on heart mean that. I just can’t see it and no manner of jazz hand statements from the club will change that. I long for the day a drab matter of fact release is made saying “the club are delighted to confirm Contractor X are our partner of choice and they will take possession of the site on date Y with Practical Completion due on date Z”

If that day ever comes it’ll be a well iced baker boy cap and a cup of tea for me

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

All makes sense to me. I am not a construction expert but I am sure someone on this board has the right CDM experience, so can elaborate. Asbestos is only one piece of the testing regime. It’s a big parcel of land, so I would imagine there were numerous tests for contamination etc.
All sounds good. Will be interesting to see how they fund it- maybe a bond issue with an opportunity for fans to get involved.

Not to give out but I think the reaction to this article shows the weariness with WF's many setbacks.

Ferdinand has said that we are working on it at present, that we will be turning the sod soon and might even be saying that we will be in by Aug '21. And yet half of the posts are cautious or disbelieving.

I found that surprising at first, but once I thought about the historical context and the many disappointments to date, then such caution makes complete sense.

Still, though, the next bit of news was always going to be either positive or else one that confirmed the abandonment of the project. And we got the former.

Time to hope, maybe. Albeit cautious hope.

I'll go along with cautious hope. I just get the impression the club are not chomping at the bit to get started and im not sure why. They've gone through all the courts and done the red tape bit. They can now really start getting spades in ground etc but instead we've got Ferdinand saying we should be in by season after next without anything tangable to go on. This enviroment thing that keeps getting banded about is just a normal process that they have to carry out yet it seems to be the excuse why diggers arent in yet.
Just lots of talk still. Im not blaming anyone at the club but do question the multi billionares motives and their commitment to the course.

"but instead we've got Ferdinand saying we should be in by season after next"

That's the crux of it, PunteR, I agree. If we're in by then I would consider it very quick. If, however, we're only stripping topsoil in eighteen months I would consider that to be slow.

I'm not worried about the ecology etc taking time. It does. And it can only be done when the owners/previous owners complete all the paperwork, get all the permits and grant all the permissions. For most of my 30+ years doing surveying I've worked in civil engineering and all of those projects had massive lead-in times, so this is not unusual and doesn't worry me.

By the way, it's only when we strip the topsoil that the next concern can be addressed - archaeology. I'm sure SWF have a spare Shakespearean theatre or two ready to go.

A woolly mammoth.. just beside the later Roman fort, later the site of a Viking burial also the site of dark age executions with heads on polls and encrusted now-extinct bird's shite on their heads.

DNA can be extracted from the encrusted bird-shite when they dig it up.

It's all in SWF new campaign booklet ... #dontyaknow

Couldnt paperwork etc been sorted in conjunction with the court process?. Especially considering the previous owners had already agreed that QPR could move in.? Surely Ealing council could have carried out enviroment checks or even closed off areas to be inspected.?
Frustrating all delays have been caused by a small group of alleged Brentford fans.

I don't think it can, at least not all of it. The court procedures held up planning, without planning Rangers couldn't have applied for permits as they had no authority etc etc
