The Greens had already alienated me with a lot of their 'political' nonsense. I don't understand why they have to be 'green plus other stuff' and not just 'green'. Why not just campaign on a green agenda? If you want green with no veg, who do you vote for? It's almost impossible to vote for anyone these days. |  | | |

Be careful what you wish for though. If there had been PR in the early 1980s the SDP might well have replaced Labour and the hard left would have been where the Greens are now. I don't think that PR could ever create an environment where some of what really needs to be done would ever get done. You'd be diluted down by coalition partners.
I've come to the conclusion that voting Green would be a complete waste of time and that you're better off supporting their campaigns rather than their politics. |

There will be an election immediately after an interim government secures an extension . If an interim government cannot be formed then Boris will call an election for November . That a Blairite view that does not stand up. The research was done after the election and the votes he won were not just Stormzy snowflakes, but actually, middle-class voters usually with one or two young children or with a single newborns. People who worry about their kids future and their own.

They all said ditch him before in 2017 election and he increased seats by 30. Whereas we know with the Blairite policies you lose seats, as happened to May who adopted Milibands Blairite policies in the election. So, even if nobody likes Corbyn, it does not matter as his policies are winning ones. The only reason Labour did not win the GE was the Blairites like Mandleson and Chuka causing problems and persuading people not to vote Labour. And we saw where their true colours were.

But politics is short term, so no one cares about 20 or 50 years from now in politics. its only about keeping hold of or gaining power for now. |  |

No, the rich can up and move sticks, we are told this all the time when we try and tax em.
Also very handy having a desperate labour force that needs work and has to migrate to lands the rich now own (as they always pay others to see ahead for them).
They then only need to pay for Judges, Police and possibly in extreme cases an Army to defend their position. And with modern Drone tech one can get this on the cheapo.
There is lots of value in commodities (safe lands) for the rich to exploit and that assumes they don't own them already.

At the national level the wealthy are much more able to protect themselves, both from direct effects and follow on effects (e.g. civil disorder as society struggles to cope with things like mass climate migration and depleted resources). It will have to be the rich and those with power to sort out climate change for sure. My point though is that natural disasters which are on the increase( possibly due to climate change) effects everyone. Plantation and animal extinction, UV rays etc effects everyone. Theres only so much rich and powerful people can do without really making climate and environmental issues paramount. Poor and uneducated people are not going to do it. I understand that there is and will be an unbalanced tempory solution but it will catch up eventually with the wealthy. [Post edited 15 Aug 2019 17:50]
