Recent results are partly his fault because he insists on sticking with the same tactics despite having lost Wells and possessing a defensive unit that struggles with playing out from the back. He should demonstrate a little pragmatism and flexibility, especially away from home, until he's had time to assemble a squad capable of executing his style of football. Just out of interest, before this season started where did you all expect us to finish?
I think most of us would’ve taken 9pts clear of relegation and 12pts off the playoffs in February.
We’ve seen some lovely attacking football, had a few big results along the way and we’re watching a team full of our own youngsters develop into decent players.
Granted the defence is an absolute shambles but not entirely unexpected given that our back 4 is made up of free transfers.
Now is not the time to start turning on the manager or players for that matter. We’re not going down and if anyone fancies a punt I’ll gladly take your money! |
Pretty much how I feel. Never expected much from the Blackburn or Huddersfield games as we usually spunk those northern trips away. Swansea another tough visit. See hiw we go on 3 home games this month. |  | | |

Which is ostensibly my point, though from a different angle. If he wants to say that the players are not clinical then he, and his coaching staff, need to do something about it. By stating that each time - a broken record he says - then it shows that either it is not working or is not been coached properly. Or, as you say here, the players are incapable at this stage and even with the coaching that we hope they are getting this is not improving. Perhaps we need to be patient or perhaps the management needs to consider other options, whether at home or away. |  | | |

As he said to me at the fans forum when I questioned him about clean sheets - if we win every game 3-2 from here until the end of the season I'll be happy and I'm sure you'll be too. Sadly, it doesn't work that way and with Wells gone he'd be wise to consider an alternative strategy, particularly away from home. |
I'd be happier if we won 3-0 in many ways - at least now and then.
If he really said that then it's a ridiculous thing to say as a manager, I remember the Forest fans warnings and at lot of it is coming to fruition.
Of course there are many issues, but it doesn't help that much of what they warned off is coming to being.
I fear a tough last couple of months, that said I genuinely thought in August that we could be relegated so in many ways a lot of the season was a good surprise. |  | | |

our defence is a major worry and has been since game 1, going forwards yes it's pretty and lots of possession but not clinical enough.....but a weak defence and dodgy keeper leaking more than a thames water main burst is a concern for sleepless nights. | | | |

If you've got Wells (not now), hugill, eze, bright, chair. Why would you spend so long playing it around at the back waiting for the perfect opportunity? Just play it forward. I think that's the frustration. We had a front line that's one of the best in the league and we're messing about with the ball at the back and conceding 2 x a game. |
We've scored a lot of goals this season from playing out from the back and creating space for those players to exploit, smashing it upto them and giving the ball back to the opposition hasn't worked well for us in recent years |  | | |

Looking at the table, I reckon the only clubs whose fans are genuinely happy about where they are just now are those of:
Forest*, Brentford, PNE, Millwall; possibly Blackburn. WBA probably calmed down a bit after today. Fulham most likely thinking at last we're where we should have been since August.
(*I know loads of 'em, cock a hoop after yesterday, but even there in recent weeks they've lost to Brum & Huddersfield).
I reckon fans of all the others are probably having threads like this. And the managers / players of all those will also be as frustrated as ours are, thinking "how come we beat X then lost to Y".
Welcome to the Championship.
Pre-season, I'd say this board / the fanbase was split between (a) crossing fingers we avoid relegation and (b) hoping for solid mid-table without having to look over our shoulder too often. I'm glad it's been more b than a, and to go with it, we've seen some very good football, the development of some highly talented young players, and a squad who clearly care.

Having criticised him after the Huddersfield game, it's only fair I say well done to MW for demonstrating flexibility and pragmatism at Swansea. The result - a solid performance, clean sheet and well deserved point that could easily have been three. Here's hoping this point is the platform for a decent run of form that cements our championship status. | | | |
