if you look at from Warburtons point of view...three days later we`ve got West Brom away so do we go for gold and end up with a score draw extra time and penalties and get demolished by the Baggies or batter the Toffees and get a draw at the Hawthorns or lose both ?

We will rest Dieng, De Wijs, and Johansen and play Archer (if fit), Dunne and Dozell. We will also find room for Amos by leaving out a striker or attacking mid.

It would be lovely to win but Friday will be the priority.

there is no extra time, goes straight to penalties

I think without the travelling this week he can play a strong side. Maybe Dunne for De Wijs and Ball to come back in midfield for one of the forwards but i wouldn't be changing too much, play a complete reserve team and we'll get battered which won't help the mood around the place

Think I'd rather play Amos at WBA and just give him only last 30 mins v Everton,

Thought we struggled to keep up in the middle with their quick counter-attacks yesterday and WBA are a quick side I think from what I've seen. Might be a big ask v WBA for Amos but think worth the risk.

Likewise looking forward to seeing Dunne versus Everton, might be calling it too early but think offers more than de Wijs and would prefer him on the right of the 3 with Dickie in the middle of the 3, as Dunne and Barbet quicker that Dickie so can offer that cover which is where we're conceding of late.

Weakened team against Everton and lose, strongest team against West Brom and lose. Will be infuriatingly predictable.

If Everton are weakened then let's capitalise and play a strong team. Get a win and it is a good morale booster to take to Albion.

Personally I think the way to beat Albion is to be defensive and frustrate them and look to set pieces and counter attacking. Taking the game to them is what they want us to do so they can get in and exploit the space with their pace.

If you examine their last four matches you will note they have drawn with Millwall, Derby and Preston and needed a last minute goal to beat Peterborough. They are not firing on all cylinders and they have found it difficult to break down teams sitting back which is why I feel a cautious approach is the best way and then go for them in the last quarter. Let's not attack at the start and be two down before we know it.

Can't understand why you or anyone would just put Amos straight in the team after so long for a crucial game at promotion rivals where he didn't exactly impress, if memory serves, in the corresponding fixture in 2020. At whose expense? JoJo's? McCallum's? Having said that, giving him a half against Everton might make sense to see how he looks and what kind of claim he might be able to make. Through little fault of his own, he's got a lot of work to do to stake his claim, and for me, right now at least, he's a squad player who isn't better than what we have.

Agree with that for this one. We need to be canny with the Baggies, stay in the game, and break this cycle of giving ourselves mountains to climb each time. We have the quality to sit and then strike. A clever, cagey 0-1/1-2 away win would please me immensely. (Or even a Brizzle-style smash and grab.) If we can't have that, a gritty, resolute 0-0 or 1-1 please.

Bit surprised at the lack of uptake for tickets on this one. Know they've been overpriced but looks like it'll barely be a bigger attendance than Oxford in the previous round...

I agree, just logged on and really disappointed by this. Evening game against a top prem side with our team playing great football. It doesn't make sense.

I think they have priced this incorrectly. I asked my son to book for us, which he did. I didn’t bother checking the price, so my fault, but I would have not paid that had I known.

I had a look last night, Pete - I genuinely thought the seat map had frozen from a few days ago. We are on tv on Friday, so that’s money saved by much of our support. It is a strange one.

I am baffled and can only concur it is the pricing. I guess it was so cheap against Oxford that people expected something similar. That was never going to happen against a prem side. I seem to remember we nearly filled the stadium for a game against Watford in the cup (that was on TV) a few seasons ago. They must have assumed demand would be high.

Sad to say that many look at this fixture/this cup as a reserve team game, the managers as well so the supporters do similar, hence why the ticket prices are lower....the world of 2021!!!

Oh well. If the support is as good as it was against Oxford then that's ok with me.

I think we'll lose to Everton and West Brom and win against Birmingham. Too many fixtures for our squad in such a short space of time. We looked tired first half against Bristol and can't see us managing a 'cup run' whilst trying to compete for the top 6.

the squad can cope fine with a cup run. if we win tomorrow next round is in October (although will also be a Friday night game that week against Forest), if we won that the quarter final is the 22nd December so it's only at most two extra fixtures this calendar year if we win.

We need to play the strongest team possible, I know we have the game on Friday and a couple probably need resting, but a morale boosting win against Everton and keeping a cup run going will do wonders. Anyway if we are good enough to go up to the Prem, Everton are the sort of side we will need to turn over
to have chance in that division.

Doing a bit of an odd football marathon this week, 3 matches in 5 days. A good friend of mine is an Everton season ticket holder so he's coming down for the QPR v Everton match tomorrow. Then I'm meeting him in Birmingham on Friday for our West Brom match before we head off to Liverpool on Saturday morning for Everton v Norwich. El Vino did flow.

League Cup doesn't seem to be a crowd puller does it.

Home last Saturday and then two consecutive homes after WBA may be a factor?
