Best thing Harry has ever done for us.

Hate tempting fate, but starting to feel like it’s our year

For that miracle to happen we need someone to knock out Man City & Chelsea

That'll be us then in the QF and SF.

Just like '86 when we won the cup in the Semi, didn't we???

I cannot believe the negativity, this is best possible draw we got have got.

It.s called not taking things for granted. Almost as if we just have to turn up. Too many people on here with long memories.

Villa had a great chance to knock out Chelsea on penalties but fluffed it. That cheat Young hitting the bar...

I'm not sure if I should read anything into Wycombe wearing an identical kit to us at City on that fateful day.

We are happy with this draw. We will expect to beat you. We have a young team with lots of talent and pace. We have the best squad since we left the top flight with two players for every position.

Our style is not that of a league 1 team, we pass and move and have pace n every position. I think you will be surprised and don’t start thinking about the quarters yet you have a very tough game ahead of you.

Well put. We're not underestimating that this will be a tough game. Just naturally we are happy because you are the lowest ranking team left in the competition (as youd rather play us over Man City too). If you play good football as you've said then it should be a great spectacle with a cracking atmosphere.

To give you an idea of how we are shaping up, the recruitment over the summer has been at a totally different level, including the return of loan players and the retention of very talented young players. Yes we let 31 goal,Wyke go, but we were very happy with that. His style of play was very one dimensional, get the winger to the by line pull the ball back onto his head and score. That works for a season at lower levels but gets found out, so despite comments from other fans we were happy that the club would not match his demands. In Ross Stewart we have a forward who is 6ft 3 mobile with a good first touch and the ability to bring others in to the game , in short a player on a totally different level.

Then add in 19 year old Dan Neil, who is a future England player, Embleton has player England under 17 , under 19 and under 21 then got injured but is back to his best as a two footed attacking midfielder, it is impossible to say which is his best foot.

We have just brought in two young players from Bayern Munich as well. Then add Cirkin from Spurs who had been offered a contract but turned it down to get first team football and continue to play for England .

In short we have a team that will do well in the Championship next season. We are not playing league 1 football. You will be surprised.

Right, but we have to win it.

They're second in League One and will bring a huge crowd.
Our cup record is awful.

We need to approach this for what it is - a Quarter Final place for the team that works harder, and works smarter.

Otherwise, we all know how it could end.
We've all been there before.

Agree with this. They are probably looking at this draw cheering also. I bet they prefer playing us rather than most others, and will be fired up for the chance to get to the final 8.

I think you'll probably be surprised by us, our recruiting has been brililant the past few years and for the first time in ages there is some genuine hope we wull push for the playoffs. In reality neither of us will have seen the other play much so for all the talk, most of us don't know much about the other other than looking at the league table etc.

Ultimately, in terms of chances to progress, arguably the best draw for both of us, though we have the advantage of being at home.

Sounds like it will be cracking game, an evening cup games will also make for a good atmosphere.

Poll: Will we stay up?

I suppose Sunderland did win 3-2 at Blackpool in the second round so they could cause us bother but on the other hand they lost at Burton.

We need to motivate ourselves that there is every chance we will be the last Championship team left in the Cup which probably hasn't happened before. It is also highly likely that we will get one of the big clubs next time.

Sunderland fan in peace, we only lost to Burton cos we had 30+ chances and couldn't score
every team has a game like that at some moment, watch the game on Utube then come back. Also that was the first team, the reserves just clobbered Wigan 2-0 in this cup away from home and they are only top on goal difference. We are not a big physical team apart from our 2 central defenders , but what our 2nd team are full of skilful fast young lads out of premier acadamy. Just Saying. Hope you have a great season just not against us, best wishes

Expect to beat us, already have an England player, side is stuffed full of Bayern and Spurs players and already promoted.

Guess we're out then.

I was getting excited as well!

Bottom line is its a tie between 2 teams that have been in the crapper and are now both on an upward trajectory, should be a cracking game and hopefully we splash out on some new lightbulbs beforehand so we can all see whats going on

There's the problem. It's a game we're going to be favourites for, and it would feel much worse to go out in. I was just wondering how I could rejig my week to get to London for it, get my boy a ticket, stay up in town with him and I then I shuddered... Great draw, but scary.

‘morbid curiosity about where this is all going’

I don't think any of us think we're odds on favourites in this game. We'd be mad to. We can see the league tables and we know also how well some of the teams coming up from League 1 have been. Barnsley, Luton and Coventry are all doing well and are tough opponents. I think we're just relieved that we're not playing Chelsea or Manchester City who could both give us a right tonking which could affect our growing confidence this season.

No way will Warbs be underestimating you either. He knows not only are you a good team, but also that it'll be a big game for you as much as for us. Not often we've had a chance to get into the last eight of any competition. So allow us to be a bit carried away and imagine ourselves at Wembley. It's no disrespect to you, we just haven't had much chance to dream for a long time after a rough few years.

Best draw we could have hoped for but its the cup and it's us.

Should be a good atmosphere with the Mackems filling the away end.

I'll take a 2-1.

"We will do well in the Championship next season"! You have to get there first, something you have struggled to do for sometime now.

Not sure if we will play our strongest starting 11, but if we do, we have 4/5 PL bound players in that team. If that 11 starts, I am confident we go through (we always score) and we can recover well if we concede. Yes, our weakness is that we can get caught on the break, but we play brilliant football at lighting speed and we can catch the opposition on the break brilliantly.

We have a brilliant manager, a team that has won the fans over and we are aiming for the play-offs this season. Should be a great game.
