Aussies 15-3 in about 4 overs. Who needs Stokes and Archer?

Buttler is something to watch in this form

Buttler taking them apart.

Any win against the Ausies is great but this is bloody brutal, Australia havent been great nor poor either but we have annihilated them. Butler on his day is genuinly unplayable he's bloody brutal.

Take that.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

All very nice to see, but T20 is playground cricket. We need to repeat this sort of performance when proper cricket starts wth the Test series in Oz later in the year. If we can repeat it then England really are in a special place. I still reckon Pakistan are the favourites for this competition, especially when the T20 tournament is being played in Dubai.

It's good enough with what England have on the field, those two would distract the balance of the team, it's the Test where they will make a difference.

Woakes is the rare state schoolboy allowed to play for England who is the real diamond in that squad, but he regularly gets overlooked - he won that game in the first two overs in the field.

Whereas Keith Stroud is a Harris of a ref - regardless of what educational establishment he went to. And he's a shoe in for the next Prime Minister, because he doesn't give a monkey's about what he does. Perfect profile for the job. Phwar, Phwar.

If we’re not going to have football at 3pm Saturday this proved the perfect alternative

No doubt good enough but those 2 improve any side in the world in any format.

They look devastating and Morgan is some kind of unique person and captain...probably the best there has ever been in limited overs.

Buttler a 100 in 67 balls. He must be seeing it like a football at the moment.

Butler with a great run out as well, at a crucial moment. All but through to the Semi's.

Smells like a trout farm in here

There was some talk of him having to drop himself due to poor form in the IPL, if he didn't cut it with the bat. Which'd obviously be tricky because we'd lose his captaincy.

He's cunningly avoided this by not needing to bat yet.

Someone on the Guardian ball-by-ball suggested that sides are so aware of Engalnd's ability to chase down huge scores that they are forced to "chase" an expected big total when batting first, and so get themselves out.

I taught that was a really smart comment. I've always thought cricket is more of a team game than people recognise, that how you bat affects how you bowl and vice versa.

Looks like England peaked too early. Poor against South Africa in their final group game and now just struggled to 166 against the Kiwis. Something to bowl at but I'll be amazed if they make the final.

it's certainly going to be close, England will need a few early wickets to put pressure on

Too close this one. I think these are two of the best T20 sides at the moment and it really is going to go down to the wire. Think England are suffering a bit from losing key players.

Was about to say that losing Archer before the start of the series and then Mills starts to make the bowling look a bit thinner than is ideal. Then that Livingstone over just shows there is more depth than might first be apparent.

I'll shut up. We need another wicket.
