All very nice to see, but T20 is playground cricket. We need to repeat this sort of performance when proper cricket starts wth the Test series in Oz later in the year. If we can repeat it then England really are in a special place. I still reckon Pakistan are the favourites for this competition, especially when the T20 tournament is being played in Dubai. It's good enough with what England have on the field, those two would distract the balance of the team, it's the Test where they will make a difference. Woakes is the rare state schoolboy allowed to play for England who is the real diamond in that squad, but he regularly gets overlooked - he won that game in the first two overs in the field. Whereas Keith Stroud is a Harris of a ref - regardless of what educational establishment he went to. And he's a shoe in for the next Prime Minister, because he doesn't give a monkey's about what he does. Perfect profile for the job. Phwar, Phwar. [Post edited 30 Oct 2021 20:02]

There was some talk of him having to drop himself due to poor form in the IPL, if he didn't cut it with the bat. Which'd obviously be tricky because we'd lose his captaincy. He's cunningly avoided this by not needing to bat yet.
T20 World Cup on 21:30 - Nov 1 with 1406 views | CiderwithRsie | Someone on the Guardian ball-by-ball suggested that sides are so aware of Engalnd's ability to chase down huge scores that they are forced to "chase" an expected big total when batting first, and so get themselves out. I taught that was a really smart comment. I've always thought cricket is more of a team game than people recognise, that how you bat affects how you bowl and vice versa.
T20 World Cup on 15:45 - Nov 10 with 1206 views | CamberleyR | Looks like England peaked too early. Poor against South Africa in their final group game and now just struggled to 166 against the Kiwis. Something to bowl at but I'll be amazed if they make the final.

it's certainly going to be close, England will need a few early wickets to put pressure on

Was about to say that losing Archer before the start of the series and then Mills starts to make the bowling look a bit thinner than is ideal. Then that Livingstone over just shows there is more depth than might first be apparent. I'll shut up. We need another wicket. [Post edited 10 Nov 2021 17:16]
