Jon Dahl Tomasson 21:13 - May 24 with 4435 viewsCopenhagenRs

As a Danish R I cannot stop thinking that Jon Dahl Tomasson might be a useful QPR manager/coach. I know that expectations and emotions are high in W12 after the somewhat undeserved Warbuton exit. But Dahl Tomasson is someone who could cope with the pressure and would come in with new ideas and a winning mentality. He was most recently with Swedish champions Malmo FF who knocked the Scottish Rangers out of the Champions League qualifiers earlier this season. He guided the Swedish champions to the group stages of the competition before standing down in January 2022 in the wake of winning the title again. Now he is looking for a new challenge.
QPR could make good sense. In this Guardian interview he claims that: "he has never been one to shy away from a challenge" and that he likes to develop youngsters: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/oct/20/jon-dahl-tomasson-malmo-being-i
The QPR job could pave his way into English football and the Premier leauge. He has seen Thomas Frank do well at Brentford and is a more qualified coach than Frank was when he arrived to Brentford. He recently won the Manager of the Year award in Sweden. Thomas Frank was sacked by his former club Brondby.
My main worry is that Dahl Tomasson could be put off by the very limited funding for new players at QPR. That said though he could also prove himself like Frank by signing a lot of gems/free transfers from Denmark and Sweden. If Brexit allows that these days!?
He surely has a huge network in Europe and that could be useful in order to attract new unknown but talented players to Shepherds Bush. I know it is a gamble, but one that potentially could pay off nicely and add well to the great work that Warburton has made.

Sounds great. I'll take half a dozen.

'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

I would think the work permit rules would put the kibosh on signing many EU players unfortunately,.

An intriguing addition to the familiar runners & riders and I wouldn’t disagree with his appointment.
But I don’t believe anyone with any sense would touch us right now - too much baggage and not enough funds to move the needle in any positive sense.

Cue announcement of his arrival tomorrow 😂

Cheers Copenhagen - an interesting and positive profile. If the man was appointed I’d like to think it was the result of an extensive amount of erudite well reasoned research and due diligence but I can’t help thinking the board have looked over to the West and flapped, ”Get one of those Danish blokes like Brentford!”

I saw an interview with him on youtube earlier. First impressions were that he seemed a bit boring, bland. Lacking in personality. Not your typical QPR manager.

Wouldn’t it be funny if switchingcode was actually Thomas Frank

We'll probably end up with Roald Dahl.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

I don’t know there’s a touch of the maverick here. I like the way he refers to (Glasgow) Rangers as a “big ferret

Thanks for that. He's the one that excites me most. High profile with maybe the ability to attract scandi youngsters and maybe some ac Milan prospects on loan. If it's wild thing I'd be happy too.

I think you are correct. Players from top leagues destined for PL are OK. Championship clubs will need to look at other leagues and non internationals, so probably won't get enough points for a work visa.

This woman looked horrific when viewed on my phone last night, but is suddenly quite attractive on the larger screen of my laptop.

I have since held the laptop at arms length and noticed another improvement.

10 feet away on the coffee table - better still! In fact she just keeps getting better with distance.

I may write to her this morning to advise her of this and offer my services in whatever way.

Think he would be a good choice if he gets similar support Thomas Frank got when he took over.Winning just 1 game in his first 10 for starters.Recruitment has been exceptional especially pre Brexit helped by the fact our owner also owned Midtjylland fc and our other DOF was stationed there. The likes of Jensen Norguaard and others didn’t come cheap and the season we got promoted over 30 mill was spent on new players.
However to finish 3rd in both his full seasons in the championship and then getting a 13th place finish in the Premier league is a great achievement and if you think Jon is a better coach then you are in for a successful period.
Players like Maupay Benharama Mbeumo ect would not get over the line post Brexit as they wouldn’t meet the required criteria.Thomas Frank wasn’t sacked by Brondby he left after the owner slagged him off on social media and though he opologised he decided to leave.
Many thanks Frank

You’re right of course Danny. The interview I saw was after a 4-0 drubbing for Malmo last year at Stamford Bridge. So his drab demeanour was to be expected. This interview shows much more promise so I fully back him to trouser the job and hopefully bring us home the bacon.

Doesn't really matter if he's a 'better' coach or not does it now though does it? As you say, players who get you promoted do not come cheap so Frank's been in the position where he can spend the sums you mention on players to get Brentford to the PL (and keep them there) so it all comes down to having the foundations where you can generate funds to be able to do so by buying low and selling high, and have owners who are patient enough with you to allow you to do it. I think our lot have finally clocked on that this was the way we did it in the past when it worked for us quite nicely, and it's worked for you more recently.

Totally agree the manager takes the credit or blame when in reality it’s the support behind him and in the case of Warburton his support ie DoFs should take the lions share of criticism imho.
