This would be out of date but - knew a Charlton bloke years ago and had the occasional beverage in that area. He told me there weren't many pubs, that was then, so probably halved by now. I must say though, there were a couple of lovely boozers in quite attractive settings, which surprised me as I had a (stereotypical) idea that SE London was erm, rather shabby. You'll have to wiki or google or whatever the names of the establishments, but I'm guessing the hostelries would be 'homers' if there's little to no choice. Coming in from London Bridge are ya? Greenwich is only a couple of stops up the line, there's a few pubs within easy walking distance of the station.

I'm looking at this game like a Millwall game. Get in and out as fast as possible.

Then don't worry about it until next time.

I think in 'Charlton village' up the top end the bugle horn and the swan used to be pretty decent, but are home ones. Depends if you're wearing any qpr stuff I guess. I think the antigallican used to be the away pub, that's down the bottom end in Woolwich Road. Also the royal oak is down that way too

The Pelton Arms is really nice and you can jump on a bus to the Valley, which would take about 10/15 mins depending on traffic or you could walk.

I use to drink in the White Swan in Charlton village, but that was pre pandemic, not sure if it’s still open? Apart from that I’ve always thought pubs around there aren’t great.

Blackheath has a few nice pubs dotted around the heath - The Princess of Wales and the Hare & Billet. I’d go there and then jump in a cab to the valley or get a train. It’ll be a much nicer place to drink especially if the weathers good.

Quite a few pubs around Blackheath. The Railway is also a good option, and right next to the station. Not too sure about the Crown a bit up the road. Both the Prince of Wales and the Hare and Billet are a bit of a walk from the station. For the Prince of Wales, I'd walk back a bit to opposite the Clarendon Hotel and hop on a 54 bus to Charlton Rd and get off at Charlton Rd/ Victoria Way stop and then just roll down the hill to the ground. If traffic is not bad, it should not be more than about a 10-15min bus ride and five minute walk down the hill.

For those who like small, quiet out of the way pubs, the Dacre Arms on Belmont Park is a great choice. Then you should head back up to Lee Terrace to get the 54 bus.

You're right, as has the white swan. I should have done some research before posting

Going to head to the Rose of Denmark. Not sure if it is home fans only but I won’t be wearing colours so hopefully it is ok.

QPR fans tend to pack out the Bunch of Grapes pub by London Bridge before Millwall. Not sure if it'll be the same.

Lot of Rangers in the Anchor and Hope. Get off at Charleroi Station, turn left, walk to the river.

ventured up to the bugle horn and the only redeeming feature is that it's proper glasses
