FIFA World Cup thread. 12:02 - Nov 15 with 123514 viewsSnipper

I’m trying to get excited about this World Cup, but to no avail :-((.

I’ve just watched Sky Sports World Cup preview with Gary Neville, Jamie Redknapp, Jamie Carragher & Karen Carney. Utterly depressing viewing. Same old, same old. Picking players for the starting XI not playing for their clubs, or totally off form.

I’m hoping this thread can get the juices flowing.

Do any of you think England have a chance?

Have mate heading up - going to lot of early games, sometimes 2-3 in a day. Probably good option as feck all else to do.
Cost approx £15k from down here & think even now accom is a little TBC - think maybe cruise ship?
Definitely on my bucket list to go to a WC but never this one.

The 2026 World Cup will cost you loads of money just traveling around between the different countries.Mexico,US and Canada are huge countries to get around for the venues.
The women’s World Cup is close to home for you next year though.

Always thought Scotland would make a great World Cup host on it’s own.

Already has transport infrastructure, accommodation, and 12 or so stadiums (including Murrayfield) that could be used as venues.

Perhaps, as a consequence of Wednesday's Supreme Court ruling, we might see Scotland free to launch a bid to host the WC in 2030.

As the true home of football, Scotland would be a fitting venue for the WC's centennial tournament.

I promised my daughter to take her to see England playing because ROI wont make it unless lightining strikes .
Of course they could be based in Mexico or Canada which would complicate things .
With all the incredible NFL stadiums the US is probably one of the best places to host the WC and it should be here today IMO.Or back in June of course

And, of course, an incredible record on human rights, they've helped out the southern nations in that continent endlessly, brought democracy to the middle east............

If Qatar beat Ecuador today then it’s definitely bent.

No way an accurate ranking would have Qatar at 50th. Above Greece and Romania, and just behind Ireland? I don’t think so.

It’s one thing to build a World Cup on the bodies of dead workers and bribery but if they touch the integrity of football then FIFA can’t even back up their calls to leave politics out of it.

Why dont the European teams, plus US and Australia just leave FIFA and UEFA and setup their own tournament? Both organisations are beyond the pale and what could they do? Oh no, England can't play Iran........

Thing is, Q are a reasonably decent side. Madness if true.

Afif will be the one to watch. The left back and captain decent too.

Yalla, yalla habibis.

Wrong Tournament this was the Asian World Cup turn and the correct hosts should be Australia a country which no doubt would have put on an excellent show and the only problem would have been what constitutes Beer it's nearly as bad as the Yanks efforts

Why didn't the BBC show the opening ceremony ?

I've only been watching 20 minutes and I'm already sick of Lineker, Shearer and Alex Scott and their moral preaching.

Think I'm going to have to watch this World Cup with the sound off.

Maybe.

I predict a Ecuador sending off or two. Easiest way to throw a game.

Qatari defender pushing the attacker around but it’s the attacker getting a talking too.

Perhaps I’m suffering confirmation bias but this stinks.
