Agreed.
I suspect a fire sale of whatever they have in Jan; after all, you cannot continue to run like this as people will leave as they feel insecure. Especially if even smaller clubs are sniffing about offering security and the agent jungle drums say, "This other club has monies; play here".
Does anyone think the fakes ground would make a good Ikea? Or Amazon warehouse if it's far out? At least we should have options to keep the back office staff in jobs. |  |

Football creditors get paid first when things really go tits up but that’s not helpful in the short term for someone like him probably not with loads in the bank and a mortgage to pay. Someone brighter than me will know better but I think a player could argue there’s just cause to be released from a contract but then there’s no guarantee a player at that level will be snapped up on the same money especially given he turned down our offer, low as that may have been. | | | |

The moral of this story seems to be to avoid Chinese owners. I gather that the Chinese Government aren't keen on seeing money flowing out of the country - probably less so at the moment with their economy having taken a downturn. Of course, it's possible that the state of the economy is actually the main issue - this guy made his money from owning shopping centres.
Aston Villa had a Chinese owner a few years back and he had plenty of money, but he had huge problems getting it out of China. The difference there is that the club was a saleable asset and it got sold on fairly swiftly to US owners.
For Reading, the issue is whether it's an attractive option to anyone given their league position and attendances. As others have pointed out, it could have been us. |  |

There was once upon a time where Chinese money was flowing into football because the Government was encouraging it, before they did a complete about turn and we're in the situation we're in now.

Well they reckon before the end of this week, small coincidence but I was with my lad today driving past their ground, anyway I said to me lad "after our result Saturday It's time to stop having the craic with each other everytime they lose on the basis that we're In no position anymore to take the piss out of other clubs"
He agreed and we drove Into Greggs on the A33 which has no relevance to the fakes demise.
Whilst on the subject we noticed and commented that lately Greggs meat pasties and steak slices aren't as hot as they maybe should be, has anyone else noticed this? [Post edited 9 Oct 2023 23:26]

This has to be the most deluded fan ever, I can remember Reading getting 2-3000 at Elm Park early 80’s, yet this buffoon thinks they are a big as the Sheffield clubs.
I was thinking about who is genuinely bigger than us who a club of our size would have to seriously upset the odds to finish above. Obviously you have what is now the big 7, then I'd say West Ham, Villa and Everton are big enough that they should never fall out. But Villa and West Ham both have recently, and Everton are pushing their luck.
After that I'd say the likes of Sunderland, Southampton, Leicester and Leeds are bigger than some current PL clubs who really should be doing better, but are currently underperformimg.
Then there are bunch who are a little bit bigger than us but not overwhelmingly so. The Sheffield pair, Norwich, West Brom, Wolves and others.
Then there is a bunch of clubs around our size of Millwall, Preston, Bolton, Bristol City, Cardiff and Brighton who can fall between the PL and L1/L2 depending upon competence. I'd put Bradford in this bucket too.
So if there was a 70% spending cap, we could definitely push up above a lot of those "bigger" than us if we spent our 70% well. | |

More likely we spend it badly and be playing semi-pro in five years but yeah can see us, Watford, Preston, Millwall etc. always marginally too good for the fourth division and never quite good enough for the Prem for the foreseeable future. I’d back us to be in L2 before the Prem though. | | | |

All guesswork this but ...
Greggs used to keep all the cooked food heated on the shelves. If it was there for too long, throw it out as what goes in them is not that expensive.
Due to energy costs going up (this was many years ago way before the cost of surviving crises) they started turning off the food heaters for the shelves. They would warn you if you came a while after it was cooked that it may not be "warm" as they used to say, now they don't even bother saying that. You are supposed to just accept cold food.
Then they reduced the size of the pasties and rolls (shrinkflation) and then they changed again, whereby before they would cook endless food and sell or throw it. So, at least it was always available even if cold or warm. Now they cook minimal amounts and if it sells out, they tell you to come back later when the next batch is done. That never used to happen before.
Soon, I bet it will be "get the app and book your food to be cooked at only select times".
