Even with the shortage of players on sat , he still won’t make the squad or bench is my guess , I’d like to pedder get a chance instead of uncle coming on and not touching the ball again on sat, who knows he might do ok for us .

Away from main subject I know, but I have been hoping to see a bit more of Pedder for us. I think he has potential.

Never knowingly understood

I cannot understand why british employment law would not somehow enable us to get rid of Taylor for breach of contract .

Ie in the world of normal, consistently not turning up to work, means a rather swift P45.

His agent must have used some voodoo magic to get us to sign such a dumbass contract on a player who had done sod all in the past anyhow....

I thought Christopher Samba was our worst ever signing ie £12.5 million.

Six months later we made him our best ever sale. £12 million.

If we got £12 for Taylor that's £12 more than I expect !!!

No interest in Richards at all, he's totally done, dead and buried, it's sad. It really could be that mentally he is shot and some of his behaviour may seem disrespectful and like its all fake, but really there has to be some major problem....there has to be.

For me I don't want to hate on him but the club have kinda put this on him by not doing there homework, he should never of been signed, infact shouldn't there be some sort of loophole where his previous club knowing he wasn't well are penalised for selling him off? He definitely came here with some of these problems and now he has even more I guess. What a shame. I can't just ignore someone who's struggling but I understand and also feel the disappointment at the wasted cash and resources...we were sold a kipper....signed by a snake and that's just not gonna work for favour in the players(kippers)corner

(Tragi)comedy pseudo-player. The club are merely proving they have contempt for the fanbase, and actually Richards himself, the longer this shameful situation goes on.

And, have you heard, bears shit in the woods?

If a player turns up for training, you have to pay him. If the player is poor during training and poor in the match, then that's on you as the manager. Which is why managers don't pick him.

He will end up like JET, playing for Jamshedpur in India and then not playing ever again. Unlike JET I think this is his last payday, as clubs are wise to this now.

He may think he has loads of money right now, but as we know in London that goes quickly once the contract ends, especially if you are off down the shops buying overpriced rubbish.

Remember Dom Ball is a headless chicken with limited skill, yet next season he could well be playing in the Prem, when at QPR, we might well be actually be giving this waster a start in L1.

Modern footballers!

I think we also come into conflict with FIFA rules which also seem to be in the favour of the player, unsurprisingly: I didn’t realise, for instance, that an established player can unilaterally cancel their contract if they’ve played fewer than 10% of the matches in a season (don’t know if that means playing for more than one minute or just being on the bench etc, but still…).

I’m sure if he didn’t play for a long time last season he would have been medically signed off for mental health reasons; it’s not difficult to get a GP to sign you off.

TBH I agree with the PP., we are completely at fault for not doing proper due diligence. I can’t believe we’ve fallen for this again given our history. Players who don’t like playing football/have mental health issues are unlikely to turn this around. We should have learned this from JET and Ravel Sterling, León Jeanne and Stephen Caulker

Im sure, if the club wanted to, they could find a way to ease him towards the door.

Something weird from start to finish about the whole thing.

I think we just have to bite the bullet and let his contract run down unfortunately.

I would Just force him to play all the papa John's games next season.

I know unions are there to protect people and generally that's the right thing to do but IMO the PFA & Gordon Taylor have taken it too far.
How can any company be in a situation where an employee is being paid a vast sum of money and can basically behave how they please, regardless of issues, seemingly without any kind of recourse.
Football is going through chnage, big change, and the vast majority of clubs, certainly outside of the PL, clubs are not rolling in money anymore because of FFP.
Maybe there should be a caveat that if a player is behaving like this then his salary can come off the FFP books until the matter is resolved?

This.

My suspicion is he's a waster, but I don't think we should be calling to throw Employment and Contract law out the window based on whispers just because it doesn't suite us. If it is a mental health issue he has my support and sympathy.

No excuse for any other view in 2024 after a litany of footballer suicides.

It's a bad transfer for whatever reason, it happens to every club. Nothing you can do.

Very true . It’s speculation. I know one thing though. The powers that be should be moving heaven and hell to get him out the door.
He’s attitude and personal issues are not likely to change.
We are all paying through the nose to have him here with zero productivity.
Not fair on the people that support the club.
