Whatever your views on gender/race/religion etc, this is absolutely terrifying that a private company can have this much power

There is a feature on the original post. Red Cross.

My apologies for my part in it.

I've never heard of this bloke, haven't got a clue and don't care what his political opinions are - but this is not about his party politics.

This is yet another example of what we thought defined living in Iron Curtain Eastern Europe when I was a youngster, and in my mind, still does. I've seen a disturbing shift in the last few decades where many residents of western countries, who appear otherwise ordinary members of the public, seem to be rather comfortable with a ruling class, government / financial institutions or 'big anything' moving toward totalitarian control. Dear god, this is exactly why we have some form of democracy, don't throw it away. You're a name, not a number.

It's shocking that anyone would approve of this.

People are being dragged from their homes and being arrested for posting ojline against the genocide the UK is helping commit right now. You can get police at your door for having the Palestinian flag out your windows. Not one word about free speech from lfw or the free speech union on this so I won't take it seriously.

A wealthy white conservative moaning about freedom is a joke. If you wanna prove you're free speech stop being a coward and call out genocide. This "free speech union" is colonisers crying about being called out for their beliefs.

Thought you’d been banned for posting sh1t like this?

Bullshit. It's the complete opposite of what you think.

This is extremists trying to exploit football just like when the NF were handing out their filth outside football grounds in the 70s. The difference is that then they were a ragbag bunch of thugs and misfits, now they're organised and backed by posh people and wealthy neo-fascists. They don't believe in free speech at all, they want to whip up hatred and shut down people who don't agree with them.

Well said. Some absolute human shaped thumbs masquerading as free speech heros.

It's great fun for middle aged white men to cos play as persecuted minorities with a YouTube conspiracy

To be banned from watching your football team because you question the trans-ideology is shocking but expect more as the Online Harms Bill is brought in - effectively punished for questioning government and minority narratives.
However those of us who said no to the jabs were penalised and couldn’t go to sporting events, concerts or our favourite pub.

Wish I could be like David Watts

People often confuse freedom of speech with freedom of thought. We all think we have total freedom of thought, but what we think is heavily influenced by our peers, parents, media, tradition and culture. In that sense are we really free? Freedom of speech is considered by many cultures as a human right. However, along with freedom to act, it comes with a responsibility to others. Words are powerful, speech can kill, and sometimes a group or society will ban it (Clive has banned some people from his site, Gerry Adams was banned from speaking on TV and Abu Hamza arrested and imprisoned for inciting violence through his speeches). Libel laws also constrain our freedom to say what we like, and many other things are censored. Advocates of freedom of speech often really mean they want the freedom to say what they want, but rarely cherish others’ freedoms to contend. However, I thought we played well against Blackburn, and when Armstrong sorts out his first touch, he’ll be unstoppable.

Not keen to get dragged into any of this debate on here because it’s a f’ing qpr fans forum about a football club, but all on here should know by now what you say on the internet is increasingly treated as equal to real-world discourse. I wouldn’t be going around defaming or libelling Young, this woman, the PL or Newcastle United unless you’re comfortable saying that in a court of law. (No they won’t come for you, it’s just you, until someone decides that tweet you made p*ssed them off!)

We just won a game right?

Oh dear, poor right whingers have finally discovered that it is ....
"terrifying that a private company can have this much power"

Who knew? well, everybody on the loony left has been bleating on about it for decades and more. You were warned time and again that big corporations have way too much power and always have had it. Going back to the East India Company and beyond. But all you did was roll your eyes and say not this loony lefty Corbyn claptrap again and carried on supporting them.

And so it comes to pass that some of you finally realise that sucking up to big uns over little loony lefties does not mean you get the scraps from the table, but that you get locked up even faster than lefties!!!

Who knew? well everyone in left did ... again.

Yes, that's right, as that's capitalism, and if you want to keep it in its place, you will need a strong democratic government. State control. Which means being for the people over private enterprise. And no, saying well govt is just as bad is not the same as there is a difference, we can vote em out. There is no democracy at work and no rights at work, except for the ones the Unions fought for and still are. No one else fought for them and especially not the scabs who supported big business by either siding with them or pretending that they are not political, but complaining when they realise it could affect them.

Toby Young, the person who hates woke, yet gets upset when private capital (which he supports) decides to cancel the contract on the customer (cancelling their season ticket) as thats business and they have the owner power under capital. We can now say Woke Toby as its true. What a snowflake, he should pull himself up by his boot straps and go and get a proper job.

There is no bill of rights (there should be), there are limited pathetic protections at work (which the Unions have to defend constantly), there is no regulation of big corp for the people (most so-called regulators, regulate for inter-company arguments) and there is no democracy at work (despite right whingers saying they want more local democracy).

Either join the left or admit you support it all, hook line and sinker as that the way capital works, it's all in or you are out!
They make the rules as they have the power, we don't.

Welcome to capitalism, welcome to the markets.

zzzzzzzzzz

Agree Boston

It’s like people here in the US won’t be happy until they get a full on authoritarian dictatorship running the show.

Then see the cloak unveil when something they agree with gets taken away. Britain from an outsider looking in just seems a complete mess at the moment.

I honestly thought when the Berlin Wall came down felt a tinge of optimism for humanity.

Wife’s friend visited from California yesterday. Seriously the homeless crisis is out of Control.
its just turned into let the 99% feed offs sraps and fight amongst themselves. How many other civilizations did Kirk meet who told him he wasn’t civilized enough to be part of their civilization.

Local politics especially here in Maryland is doing some good things. Local stuff with people engaged gives me hope. Likely to get involved in my retirement years.

A few years ago I was listening to one of those phone-in radio stations (might have even been BBC Radio London) in my car and the topic of debate was that people/companies etc who own multiple flats/homes in London that are left empty purely to use as an investment to sell later on at a higher price should pay double/treble Council Tax.

Now, and lets get this straight, I am not in favour of homes being bought up like this and left empty which both inflates the market (supply & demand) and makes it harder for people to find somewhere to live.

However, this is how capitalism works. You can't promote capitalism then complain when people are being successful off of it then try and penalise them for being successful by charging them a fee that can then be spread amongst the populace (socialism?).

It's one or the other, can't have it both ways. Well, you can ("social democracies" or "democratic socialism") but it has to be a big part of a party's manifesto and if it is, it doesn't seem to be working!

I just think people are too deeply entrenched as to whether they vote Conservative or Labour so even if, for example, the Conservative voters can see the damage being done and that Labour might be able to turn it around there's very little evidence that they will in fact vote differently. Happy to suffer rather than swallow their pride.

Premier League football is explicitly not for "legacy" football fans, they've now transcended football and will sell the seat regardless, the impact of banning people will be nil. The Championship eats the Premier League's shit for breakfast, so inevitably will take a similar attitude, although in reality would be damaging themselves. League 1/2 they still need you to turn up each week, banning fans for virtue signal/PR value starts to become a lot more problematic, but still very much aware of wider PR and Media implications, and they're all very keen to be described as inclusive community clubs. No doubt the NGOs and charities who dream these policies up will have got their teeth into them several years back.

The "It's a conspiracy theory" position is clearly getting a bit tired but I do kind of respect the pure dogma of those that still hold it. What I can't get my head around is the - Let's just pretend this isn't relevant to us, and it shouldn't be discussed because we're QPR fans, not Newcastle............AKA "Its happening and I think that's a good thing"
