There was an article (in the Guardian I think) which said that what has disturbed the slumbers of the mid-table mediocrities is last season's and this season's promoted teams doing well.
I don't want to be too harsh as we were never able to get near mediocrity when we were in the Premiership - for now mediocrity will have to remain a distant dream for us. |  |

Jason Burt wrote a good piece in the Telegraph yesterday about this. Basically, unlike in Germany, most of our clubs doing scout for new managers in the same way they do for players.
Hence firing someone, panicking and then going for whoever's on the rank that they've heard of at that point - in this case Fats & Chocolado.

Sky will be though. TV only films the first 2 tiers at Real Madrid because nobody goes, or less than 50% capacity is standard and the TV folks hate it. It looks terrible on telly.

It probably *IS* all about the 40 points - the TV money is so obscene these days.
Everton are panicking now, taking on Big Sam - not for European ambitions, but just to keep them up this season. Sam will have a massive bonus for doing so and if he's booted in the summer, he'll be paid up, so he's laughing all the way to the bank.
Thing is, with so much at stake, the immediate issue is safety - then worry about long-term building.

Allardyce will always get jobs as he has a very good record of keeping clubs in the division, much like Pullis his football is dire to watch but is effective at times so any club wanting to stay up is going to go with a safe pair of hands.
Same with Pardew and Moyes, perhaps less so Moyes now but both have done Ok in the prem in the past so are seen as a safe pauir of hands.
If you look down the leagues for up and coming English managers clubs could take a punt on you'd struggle to find many. Wilder at Sheff Utd springs to mind but can't think of many other English ones doing well so these ones always get another go. |  | | |
