WTF!! This site aside, I don't do social media. I only ever did Facebook, and came off that several years ago. Admittedly more to do with reservations about the bloke who owns it and the motives of his company, but one of my best decisions given how toxic it often seems to become!
I hope QPR and relevant authorities are fully on board with this and helping him.

Paul Smyth was excellent on Saturday and was up and down the pitch working so hard for the team, for me a really good professional performance he did not stop running, dare I say in a Jamie Mackie style.
These are the good sort of players we need, sure he makes mistakes and sometimes takes the wrong option but he's plying his trade at Q.P.R. not Arsenal or Man City.
He, in my opinion gives his all every time he plays, can't ask for more than that, what's not to like.
We have had many players here over the years that haven't given us everything like Smyth does.

I think (my view only) a lot of the abuse is generated from people who are betting addicts and are relying on results , players to score for their multi bets to come in, and when teams players don't score, perform, get yellow / red cards they lose sight of reality and become dicks by sending vile threats to a player, his wife and kids |  | | |

The people that do such things, should have death threats sent to them from anonymous strangers and to their loved ones also and see how they feel and cope with it,
The police lock people up for some "text" crimes, but in these situations, nothing is done. If they want to lock people up for "text" crimes, which they do, surely sending death threats to footballers and their families, is criminal under our laws, as they stand, but the police won't even visit the victims.
Football is only a game and this abuse is another level, that has to be punished, but weirdly, its allowed to continue with zero consequences !!!!

Social media just gets worse and worse. Mainly now full of awful and/or extreme political content, racism, and rage bait posts deliberately placed (often the same thing over and over again by several different group pages) to generate nasty comments/arguments.
In short, you aren't missing much.

I work with a major player at one of the biggest clubs in England and he made the admission that “Every single second, of every single day, I get a notification on Twitter telling me I’m shit at my job.”
He missed a penalty and he was inundated with abuse which just snowballed into his pregnant fiancé being sent threats about r*ping her and killing their unborn baby.
I saw Merson on STF saying people wouldn’t believe how much he gets for getting predictions wrong or whatever and the panel all said similar.
Another player I know was on a shoot for a brand, and someone came over for the 5mins he was left alone asking for a photo. He agreed. After the photo was taken, the guy asked the player “Why was he such a useless lump of sh*t” for his FPL team - whilst then videoing the reaction.
People are scum.

Those platforms have done nothing but damage to society and individuals. Incredible that it's taken this long for countries - led by the Aussies - to realise they shouldn't be allowed anywhere near kids. But to be honest they do know good for adults either.
I work in communities and you see the best of people when they're off screens, out meeting other people, and looking to help those in need. I hate the fact the term 'online communities' was coined - as they are NOT communities. When people are anonymous, and not in person, they too often go from human to something a long way from it.

What are the main reasons why (i) social media companies/platforms are not being legally compelled to ensure all users have verified/identified accounts and (ii) governments are not legislating to make hate of this kind a transnational criminal offence? This has nothing to do with freedom of speech, and no one should have to tolerate such malice with no repercussions for the perps. |  |

I said this to Les when after an interview once, that basically if I was a footballer I wouldn't have social media in a million years, and he pointed out that for many of the younger lads, Instagram messenger or SnapChat is how they communicate.
I'm old so I use whatsapp, if you took that off me I'd be in trouble because it's literally how my whole friendship circle interacts. Equally, I wouldn't want my employer having access to or controlling that. | | | |
