That was me last night when they equalized. Only ever time I’ve done that in 50 years support was the 6-0 defeat to Newcastle. Had just come to the end of Ellerslie Road when I heard the roar Reading about ‘Stairs’ and the ‘Roof coming off’ is not improving my mood

You have my deepest sympathy and understanding... and there for the grace of etc etc....
When they equalised I was ready to storm out... I was lucky that my nephew is seated between the exit and me... and he was not budging... and at 6'4" who was I to argue...
The FK... persuaded me to give it a minute more.... I know this doesn't help you.... but I was nearly following you out

My brother made us leave and miss an actual Matthew Brazier goal back in the day. Bah!
I left 10 mins early in that 4-1 against Ipswich the other day but mainly because I needed a piss.
Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.

Left on 90 minutes when two down at home against Brentford a few years back. Was walking ain’t Blomfontein when I heard Pigbag strike up and a couple walked passed me saying ‘well that’s one at least!’ I looked at my phone to see who scored and couldn’t believe that was in fact the equaliser! I can only imagine that the guy in charge of pressing the Pigbag button couldn’t be arsèd after the first goal.
I heard loads left at half time in the famous 5-5 with Newcastle 40 years ago. This is before my time but I believe Rangers were 4 down. This must be the worse case of leaving early ever I imagine?

Yes some people sat near us left at half time that day

Only left early once..... away at Highbury and 3-0 down, then Bannister scored right at the end. Didn't really change the outcome but would have been nice to have had a moment of joy in an otherwise crap game.

Indeed they did. I'm sure there's many greeted with the same halftime score in the potteries about 12 years later, who similarly departed and felt aggrieved. Maybe there are some who left both games early and missed the lot!
I'm never one to hang around if we're shite or, I've got something on. Luckily, the two fames above I stayed, but would never berate anyone who decides to leave early. FFS, life's too short if you're not enjoying it or there's something more enjoyable you're heading to.

I left the Notts Forest ground at around 3-0 4-0 down In the 90th minute, we were looking for me car after crossing the river when a muted roar went up from within the ground so I said to the lads wahey we got a goal back, we hadn't got a goal back, they'd scored yet again but their fans couldn't be bothered to celebrate or had fell asleep. Jesus wept we were bad In those days, a car full of miserable grumbling QPR fans on a long journey home takes some beating.
My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

Totally get leaving when we’re 4-1 down as I did against Ipswich on about 88’ but how much time does someone save doing so on 94 rather than 97 when it’s 1-1? On my train from Shepherds Bush National rail it’s a saving of zero minutes. In the car it’s maybe 15 mins at a push. On the tube perhaps you get onto one tube earlier so maybe 5-10 mins. Just seems a bizarre trade-off to me to risk it.

I genuinely never leave however crap we are playing but I'm the kind of person who will go to Wimbledon for a day and not leave my seat to go to the bar while the tennis is on. Let's face it, loads of the slop we have served up at home over the last few seasons is worth it when you get a moment like last night...and I would have been gutted to hear the roar behind me if I was making my way home after their equaliser.

Connecting train at Clapham - difference of about 30 minutes, But who am I trying to kid, I can’t forgive myself.
I also stayed for the 5-5 draw against Newcastle.

If your team is 3 goals behind and playing badly with 5 minutes to go then fair enough but leaving early when we have undeservedly let in an equaliser and have already had plenty of decent attacks and there are just a couple of minutes to go seems misjudged to me.

The joy of my connection at Clapham is that Southern Rail will almost certainly be delayed or not able to run a basic train service at all and I’ll have a swift half at the Junction pub down the road.

Only game I have left early was the 6-0 drubbing by Arsenal in the FA Cup. We should have gone 1 up with Crouch missing a chance, but after that is was painful to see the gap between the teams.
Smells like a trout farm in here

I had to miss Jamie Mackie’s winner against Liverpool in 2012.It was a school night and the last train was the 22.30 from Liverpool st.Afyer that it would’ve been a bus replacement that would get in about 1.30,which I thought was too late for my 10 year daughter. And I saw the equaliser and thought that was a good point earned and I’d settle for that at 2-0 on 75 minutes. It made up for it a bit when I saw the clip of Phil Thompson chewing on a lemon on SSN.

Was having a laugh about this with my neighbour last night after the chap next to him missed the first goal because he'd gone to get something to eat. Never leave early we agreed, relating each of our stories about leaving early and missing result changing goals.
