dermyqpr added 12:31 - Sep 23 winchesterbob added 07:10 - Sep 25 Scrappy encounter and hardly worth my £18 with far too many passes going astray. 2 nil was almost an injustice to Bristol who pressed us back particularly in the second half. Gully missed a sitter when the ball got stuck under his new bright yellow boots in the six yard box. It must have been the boots as Gaston seemed to be struggling with his similar foot ware apart from his sublime opening goal. If this was a runout to to help their case for inclusion in Saturdays line up the pair of them should either burn the boots or book a holiday. Highlights were Kelvin Davis and the back four with some special praise for Fox who had a blinder at left back, (not often Dan catches my eye). Man of the match for me though was JWP who challenged for everything and touched every blade of grass Phil_S added 22:31 - Sep 25 Disappointing night but with ten changes especially a complete defence it was almost predictable. As much as I enjoyed our run and victory last season this was always likely to be our lowest priority this season given the League, Europe and the FA Cup. Was a little surprised I guess at the extend of the changes but we move on. We don't become a bad team overnight Azzuriswan added 08:20 - Sep 26 Very disappointed by the performance overall. The players seemed to treat the game as a training exercise and to be honest not many of the players put on a show to impress the manager let alone the fans. Morfa_Same added 11:26 - Sep 26 A very complacent performance with no real urgency or effort. First half we could have been 4-0 up without really getting out of first gear. The second half we fell apart as Birmingham upped the tempo and pressed us all over the pitch. The performance became littered with mistakes and they almost always dispossessed us before we reached the halfway line. An embarrassing result really and one which is best forgotten as quickly as possible. crawfleeds05 added 17:12 - Sep 26 Newcastle game gives us a true reflection on the squad at the moment. Outplayed by a premiership team who have spent far more than us in recent time hence their premiership status. But it did give us Leeds fans a chance to see who can make the step up. Austin who has been fantastic for us this season looked inert of the early season form again a far superior midfield. His passing is clearly in consistent. Almost cost us a goal but one positive from the midfield was are youth product Mowatt. A shinning light in the Leeds midfield who looked heard and shoulders in the middle of the park. If Luke Murphy can find some form which saw him score at Brighton we could really have a good championship midfield in Mowatt Austin and Murphy, with Green and Tonge as back up. Upfront is clearly a weakness and this showed last night. Smith and Poleon looked lost out there. A strong Newcastle defence dealt easily with are front two with only McCormack looking like he could break their barrier. We are evidently a work in progress but there are certainly signs that with a few more quality signings we could see us challenging with best in the Championship because the Premiership certainly needs a Leeds United with their travelling army again a shinning light in the club. One league we no doubt will be top off at the end of the season is the away following, a feat McDermott certainly appreciates. Onwards and upwards for Leeds and the future looks bright. MOT. tsbains64 added 12:02 - Sep 29 Atlast a performance to be proud of .At time the passing and possesion was scintalating-we should have won by 4 or 5 goal Nico is a class act and I can see why Harry has brought him over-he purrred like a classic car-he is a great addition The whole team performed a notch above the Brighton game Barton shone and his commitment was 100% Carroll struggled but it was good to see Harry leave him on th epitch to gain confidence Green has been a revelation from last year and he was ably helped by the frugal defence. The introduction of Max Ehmer was refreshing to see-good to see a youth product being given a chance Atlast the rest of the league can see why we a re top of the league francisbowles added 16:35 - Sep 29 Although it was a much improved performance let's not get carried away. We really should have put the game to bed. Towards the end I was getting a little uneasy as a few Middlesborough efforts went close to our goal. Had they scored the game might well have imploded on us. The passing was great at times but we went a bit 'Arsenal/Swansea' and overcooked it. Passing for passing's sake doesn't have an end product! However, I am very pleased with another 3 points, clean sheet and a promising performance. The squad is beginning to show it's quality and it was good to see Faurlin and Caroll get much better in the 2nd half after shaky first 45 minutes. It was better but we still need to get more support in attack for Austin. Royboy48 added 21:12 - Sep 29 Good stuff Not sure 1 up front will work when we finally get to play top half teams - but we certainly went up a gear against a rather unimpressive Boro But there are clearly.more gears to engage We have to be patient with Austin, Faurlin, Kranscar, Carroll, Philips.... Nice to walk back to the car with that feelgood factor loftuspat added 21:29 - Sep 29 It was a very enjoyable afternoon. Boro never looked liked they would trouble our back four or Green. While we may need more cover the back four that started looks like it could be very strong. Cannot remember being as confident about our full backs since the 90's. Barton and Nico looked a class above anyone in boro shirt. Carroll did well despite giving ball away a few times early on. As for our forwards it was good to see junior get on for 10 minutes and hope we can have. His pace in the side more often. Glad to have Austin on the books but wish his first touch was better. He would score lots of goals if he could control the ball better first time. Maybe extra training with Nico and Joey Is needed for Charlie
