Oldham Athletic 1 v 0 Salford City Papa John's Trophy Tuesday, 31st August 2021 Kick-off 19:00 |
Bettwsresident added 19:01 - Oct 29 Why the F does Tadic have to fall over whenever he is touched.. even when we are on an oh so rare break! I dont blame cedric for Murray's goal. He is a good wing back with 1 limitation..what cant the team sort it out to have Hoedt or VVD track to the back post when the oppos big striker head thats way. Overall the game was more of the same that we have seen all season and a tough watch. JWP was downright poor asie for 1 v good fee kick, whilst Romeu showed his limitations, a brilliant defensive midfeilder with a strange almost complete lack of ability to find a forward pass. Boufal was decent, and made to look a hell of a lot better when the sadly underperforming Redmond came on. larry12 added 19:01 - Oct 29 larry12 added 19:04 - Oct 29 Aceof base, you tosser. Forster is a clown and has lost Saints 4 points in ther last 2 games. Get a pair of glaases! aceofthebase added 07:05 - Oct 30 Larry 12 with your superior eyesight and rich choice of English perhaps you can explain how Cedric did his best to prevent Murray heading the ball. Better can you explain what Cedric is expected to do when others have to cover for him. You wouldn't suggest he takes centre stage in defence I hope SaintBrock added 07:52 - Oct 30 One to forget. It started well and we could have gone on to win handsomely with that style of football but no, for reasons inexplicable to understand, Pellegrino decided that our best tactic was to sit back on a 1-0 lead for 86 minutes! The man is beyond mad and we really are watching a level of bumbling incompetence that is unusual even by our historical standards. Nothing will change of course unless our new owner takes a serious interest in the football side of the business. Once he realises it is more than just a money laundering machine we might get some change but don't bet on it any time soon. Sadly, this season is already well and truly a write-off, if we can't beat Huddersfield, Newcastle or Brighton then we really are not very good at all and it is conceivable that the only sides we can beat like Palace, WHU and WBA might all be relegated. Are we in the relegation scrap? It will be a brave person who says No! SaintNick added 08:46 - Oct 30 Why would it be a brave person who predicts we wont be in a relegation scrap, Brighton, Newcastle and Huddersfield have all had good starts to the season so to get a point away at two of them isnt bad, yes we are playing terrible at the moment, but we are still in the top ten we are nearer the top six than we are the bottom three. I look at the ratings on here and sometimes wonder what people are thinking, it always seems to be the same players get the same low ratings no matter what they do. Forster gets 3.6 at time of writing, some say he should have saved the goal, maybe , maybe not, it wasn't a big blunder though and apart from that he came and caught the crosses well and otherwise did nothing wrong. Redmond gets 3.8, he had 18 minutes on the pitch, did nothing wrong and his arrival coincided with us starting to keep the ball and push Brighton back, he didnt put in any match winning crosses, but neither did he do too much wrong, yet some cant see past the red mist that envelopes them every time his name is mentioned, certainly not the man who stood in front of me yesterday who screamed abuse at him and ironically applauded if he crossed the ball. Not the best ever match, not the best ever performance, but it is always the same players who get slated if we fail to win and get no praise if we do, allsaint54 added 10:32 - Oct 30 Saintnick. Could be that these players are just not performing week in week out. The only time you see Tadic is when he's auditioning for the Oscars, absolutely no enthusiasm or effort at all. At least Redmond tries. As for FF he is a liability. Let's face it he only had 1 shot to save & failed, hopeful punts upfield to MG just gives possession back to the opposition. BoondockSaint added 13:19 - Oct 30 dannyblue added 23:59 - Oct 31 Not much quality but a lot of hard work. We played very direct today. And shifted seemlessly from a back three to a back four, and back again and again. Deserved win for the effort. Harbour added 18:08 - Nov 1 Well done rangers 100% effort from every member of the team. Ollie has got the players playing for the badge and they all knew there role if anything we really should have won by more than the one goal. Baptise Robinson and Sylla stand out performances we really stopped them playing.
