vanmans added 10:23 - Apr 26 We all knew saints make do defence would let us down against Chelsea and they were torn apart by top players. Even Dave Merrington on Radio Solent said that Yoshida and Stephens were not good enough against top teams. I thought Boufal had his best game. Why does Puel keep playing JWP he gave nothing last night and was at fault for their second goal. Clasie would have been a better option he scored a goal then gets dropped for then next two games. What has happened to Forster he had another nightmare. codge added 17:10 - Apr 29 Surely these players should be embarrassed to take a paycheck for this performance. Seems that a few were looking ahead to were they might be playing next season. The lack of commitment shown today was awful only Romeu and Stephens also Davis seemed to be show any interest, one of the worst displays this year. deanosfc8 added 17:26 - Apr 29 There has been the odd performance this year that says give Puel a chance but today with that absolute rubbish! Losing at home to City I can take, losing at Chelsea I can take but this was Hull City at home!! This has to be our worse performance of the year & we have seen some dire crap. Why can we not change the system? It didnt work after an hour why like for like on the subs? I was in Puels corner but now Iv had enough! Whats with Tadic taking penalties? even Tadic knew he was gonna miss!!! pete_boggs added 17:30 - Apr 29 halftimeorange added 18:26 - Apr 29 NeilF added 19:31 - Apr 29 Utter rubbish! The players should use their salaries to pay the families back who paid so much money for that diabolical example of entertainment. There was a guy with his wife and two daughters in front of me. How many hours work must he have done to pay for today's day out? Will they ever come again? Saints made Hull look far superior! And Hull were awful! What was the dressing room talk about? Puel asking which hotel in Dubai is the best? Their minds were certainly somewhere else. I feel sorry for Manolo. Puel set up the team to not supply Gambiadini with any telling balls then takes him off to put on Long who has forgotten how to score and they do not give him service either (he would miss anyway). What is the point? Puel spoke in the week about Boufall needing to be nurtured and that he needed time. This was Hull, the game was there for him to put in a masterclass but no he is just the same as he has been all season. Losing numerous ball and doing nothing then coming off does not justify £17 million whatever Puel says. But then, Puel takes him off and puts on Sims who also flatters to deceive and another player who loses the ball easily. Again, what is the point? The players and Puel should be embarrassed with that performance. You do win some, lose some, draw some but to show a total lack of eagerness to do anything and Puel showing inept tactics at Premiership level is tantamount to showing contempt to the fans and for the high profile job he has got. I just hope they can sit well on those Dubai beaches thinking back at today’s performance. But this is stupid, as they drive away in their brand new cars they have already forgotten about it. SaintBrock added 20:45 - Apr 29 dirk_doone added 21:00 - Apr 29 Today's performance v Hull was full of personality. The makeup of the team had Les Reed's personality stamped all over it and the way they played was pure Claude Puel. It was almost as if Les and Claude's interviews had been translated into a football performance out there on the St Mary's pitch. Natedog added 00:19 - Apr 30 I think that we looked on holiday today as well bar Romeu, Stephens, Davis and maybe Cedric. Forster's kicking is shocking and he never looks comfortable. Yoshida loses the ball way too easily and gets beaten in defence. Boufal and Redmond just give the ball away and look disinterested and Tadic is just shocking and doesn't do anything. Tadic moans and says not too sub him off and then he misses the penalty. He is past it and needs to be sold whilst we can still get some money for him as he doesn't do anything most of the time now. Gabbiadini is isolated and did what he could with his running however his touch looked a little off today too. That's maybe because he had an extremely limited amount of touches. In the end Hull deserved to win and we were lucky to get a point in the end as Hull seriously wanted it more and maybe should have had a penalty of their own in stoppage time. Puel has taken the decision to drop JWP which concerned me because he is our best set piece taker and nobody else can beat the first man. Also, Prowsey is the carrion of our midfield. I don't understand Puel as he dropped Clasie after scoring and then he dropped Prowsey. He is inconsistent and it is decisions like this that make me question his ability. All managers are different and I was on his side but I don't understand many things he does nowadays and nor does most fans. The fact that he brought on J Rod and Long instead of Prowsey concerned me because as much as I love them, surely they cannot be in our long term plans as they need to be sold and have not scored enough goals. I think that we will only become more disinterested as we have nothing to play for and Puel doesn't seem to be able to get them motivated. The one game that we defended half decently in, we didn't look like scoring at all really. The penalty miss summed it up really. I am willing to give Puel a bit of next season but we really need to keep VVD, Romeu, Bertrand, Cedric, JWP and sign a few decent players to because the consistency is alarming this season and we don't want to be dragged into a dog fight at the bottom next season. I think that we can only get better from today and Puel really needs to have a word with them all and especially certain individuals. The motivation now is to finish 8th and hopefully above Bournemouth. That is the key to getting more of a prize fund and Puel convincing the fans that he can take us forward, as top 10 and a cup final is good in my opinion.
