Im pretty much appalled but how Fern has been treated.
She demolishes her knee playing for QPR Ladies first team yet has to set up a gofundme page to pay for the operation and rehab.

The fact Christian Nourry and Ben Williams are individual donees is pretty atrocious to be quite frank, those two are key decision makers in the club who have freedom to decide whether such treatment is paid for and supported! |  | | |

Its currently a 60-90 week wait on ACL reconstruction with the NHS, thats if she qualifies at all.
The NHS are not concerned if you can play football professionally anymore, they just need you to be able to walk without a crutch.
Anyway, don't the club normally have private medical insurance for the players? This is the part I'm confused about |  | | |

Did the injury take place before the team were brought in house?

There are different levels of surgery you can get on ligaments. Depending on if your original ligament is ruptured or torn.
Surgeons can make the original shorter and graft it back on. They can use something like a donated achilles tendon and replace the whole thing, or even have some carbon used to create anchoring points for the ligament.
A lot of the options might be determined by whats on offer at your local hospital administration, so its like the postcode lottery.
There is a decent wait list of 60-90 weeks, and the NHS are not going to aim to get the patient back competing at the highest level, the win for them is for the patient to be able to walk correctly after surgery.
The last operation I had was £9k and that had a two year wait on the NHS
It's a shame that this wasn't funded quietly in house. Either directly by the club or through C level directly.
When you are losing £2m a month, every month, £16k is literally money you would lose in the crack of the sofa.
As for first team players chipping in with £100 or £500 thats embarrassing, its like me tipping the waiter £20 after a nice meal. | | | |
