Fan sites meeting with Christian Nourry 17:13 - May 15 with 51546 viewsNorthernr

There was an end of season debrief with the CEO at Loftus Road last night which I attended. We've whacked the audio on the Patreon, no pay wall on this so you should all be able to listen whether you've got a sub or not - please let me know if that's not the case.

I'll perhaps type the minutes up physically over the weekend if I've got enough in the tank...

You just urged us to have a go at him too by your own standards of what questioning means.

No he said nothing of the sort. He said to question Hoos. That’s very different to “having a go at him”.

It's not about catching Christian Nourry out, I think its very very important to call him out if he starts to traipse out anything like, we have 90% player availability, when anyone can see that half the first team are out injured.

This is the kind of nonsense that needs to be nipped in the bud, as when you have created a void of information, then people will start to fill it, so its vital that what you broadcast stands up to scrutiny.

There is nothing wrong with making mistakes and learning from them, and it sounds like CN was actually expressing that sentiment at times during this forum.

I also think its right that fans like Matt Winton are brought into the forum, in the same way that BBC Question Time tries to remain impartial by having guests from both sides of the political spectrum (and hopefully the audience too).

i dont know who Matt Winton is myself. Am assuming he is just a fan. is he a twiter poster and if so he will have many followers. If so just a different form of social media to a forum.

At the end of the day if he is a fan, he has the right to be there.

And yes representing a forum or a podcast is fine but at the end of the day, people are asking questions according to what they personally feel is important

Obviously there are different opinions on here so people are there as individuals not representing a whole forums viewpoint because we dont all agree.

Amyhow am wasting my day off. Being told to get off my butt here.

Here's to a successful season next year. I think we will have a good one and yes i do feel there is a lot to like abput the direction we have been heading in and definitely i think Christian is absolutely learning from his mistakes, and there have been some, which many do not do ,so all positive in general for me.

Obviously some on here are very critical of Nourry and no one is more vocal than your good self Clive, and I do feel this forum is overly critical of him and potentially some are influenced by the narrative and ramming certain points home that he is not been greatly consistent on. This season ticket hike. Ok slightly dodgy but there are many many things that in my eyes, seemingly overwhelmingly not on this forum, but there has been progress.

Yes we know you dont like him as a person. But...

There are ways about him as a person that grate, but tbh I think he is doing a decent job overall at QPR. Let's not forget he has been appointed by the club. Many questions if there are issues should be directed at those, as they clearly rate him, but no one has thought to think of questioning Lee Hoos, Bhatia etc..

There is no doubt there is a model being followed and some lessons have been learned but overall, I personally feel as a club who have been in danger of relegation most seasons with one of the oldest squads in the championship. We do have some exciting young players who could improve and with a season behind them, with a couple more very clever transfers who knows where we could find ourselves.

This sarcastic narrative towards Nourry primarily from yourself Clive, respectfully suggest is actually becoming exceedingly dull. Yes let's all focus on him messing up on one question, and completely and totally ignore the positives of this new regime.

Am expecting many many down posts to this post but the narrative on here led by yourself Cluve which clearly influences many on here again respectfully is coming across sarcastic, nasty, unkind and rather personal.

Take the personalities out of it and look at the overall picture,. No one person is going to do everything well and again, let's not forget he is still a very young man himself but the club have been impressed by him and placed him in the firing line. He is an employee not the chief. Ask them a few more questions if you can but crikey two years ago we had Leon Balogun, Dion Sanderson, Ethan Laird, Taylor Richards, Tyler Roberts, no centre forwards that could score or create any goals, Andre Dozzell managed by Gareth Ainsworth. And our only attacking threat was Ilias Chair. We had a lulu warrior in to motivate our players but thats OK because it was Gazza, money of us. He is failing as a manager in league two now.

Now compare.

People on here have been lukewarm to Stephan. Maybe let's look at this and his influence on developing the likes of Kone, Madsen, Vale, Burrell, Morgan, Smyth and hopefully Ronnie and Mbengue.

Is let's just all focus on minimal season ticket increases in an inflationary economy. OK the concessions for under eights is strange, but come on people let's look at the overall picture.

Some that were at this meeting were criticising the Nourry fans he invited on the meeting. Maybe some realise where we were not so long ago and have actually been impressed but one poster actually said he invited some of his clones, contemporaries. Some can see the bigger picture.

The narrative on this forum is overwhelming anti Nourry and led undoubtedly by your good self. Its actually becoming quite personal and nasty and I have had enough of reading such nonsense.

Its become nasty....
[Post edited 19 May 11:29]

I would put myself in the camp, albeit a small camp in number, that thinks Nourry is doing a decent(ish) job. I do think he has improved things, supported by the owners, since he became involved.

And yes, on here it is mostly anti-Nourry. However, whilst on balance Clive doesn’t seem overly happy with Nourry, I have always thought he was balanced in his arguments. However, you are right that there are some on here that do seem to have something personal against Nourry but I think that’s a minority. However, if you ignore the posts that are personal, there are a lot of valid arguments and concerns. And for me it’s useful to get more information on it. I do find the, “some staff aren’t happy with Nourry” so he’s the devil, quite funny. It’s a business employing quite a few people. No business in the world has staff that all love their boss!

Well thats good to know.

But it did appear from listening to the meeting it was a lot about trying to catch Christian out which I felt was my overriding element listening to the meeting and I am not aware of how it was clearly as was not there in person either.

Yes I do also think that perhaps also these season ticket concession thing is an own goal but perhaps its Hoos and those above decision.

He has not have carte blanche on decisions and maybe it wasn't his actual choice. It could have been festered on him from above, as well. Which would explain a curt answer ie he can't totally say. He reports to his employers.

Yes and am glad that relationships between all towards Christian are conciliatory. That is good to know.

But yes I do concur the narrative is nasty and any issues its Nourry this and Nourry that but when all is well, no praise for the guy ,ie its nothing to do with him.

I for one am pleased he is here. In most areas we are greatly improving. The focus on developing players, the attempts to get to category one academy is all good.
And Cifuentes and Stephan have both been progressive appointments.

Yes there have been mistakes but the overall direction has been positive and progressive.

There is though sadly an anti Nourry narrative overall on here.

I can't understand it myself....

Very bizarre.

"But it did appear from listening to the meeting it was a lot about trying to catch Christian out which I felt was my overriding element listening to the meeting and I am not aware of how it was clearly as was not there in person either."

He catches himself out by not having figures on season tickets available to hand when meeting a fans group. A good CEO would lie or have the figures available. Lee Hoos would have had them available, or he would have lied. Shows lack of preparation going into these meetings.

"At the end of the day if he is a fan, he has the right to be there."

It's not a fans forum. It's a meeting between representatives of fan sites, channels and the club. It's not open to all fans. You couldn't go, I couldn't. If it was a fans forum, it would be advertised and we could apply to go as fans.

Do you understand the difference?

"so people are there as individuals not reprenting a whole forums viewpoint"

That's not true. Everyone bar one was representing a channel or site. It's weird you are having this argument while not absorbing at any point what the actual meeting was.

Out of interest what would you class a successful season ?

For me we need to be bare minimum top 10 and actually take the cups seriously. Anything less with the money we've spent is a failure imo

It's just logic mate.

If the questioning of Nourry is nasty (having a go) then so must be the questioning of Hoos, which he's called for.

If Nourry has had a hand in helping to develop this excellent programme, and I've no reason to suppose he hasn't, it's a definite positive:

I did a Myers-Briggs training thing once, where after 20 or so questions you pigeon hole someone into a specific personality type.
Analytical Introvert, that kind of thing...

Then in small teams you can see that those directly opposite personality types will unintendedly cause friction between themselves

So that green "Visionary" with his Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking, Judger will
normally find conflict with a red "creator" who looks for sense and facts.

It's pretty interesting and explained why I could never see eye to eye with a boss at the time.

Plus, I reckon everyone in the room was fed up after a long season, and probably Paul Morrisey stopping every five mins to say what could and couldn't be repeated

Myers-Brigg is essentially unevidenced pseudo-science.

Or to put it more colloquially, it's bunch of crap.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Now this thread is truly bogged down in he said she said nonsense .

Look everyone has the right to an opinion . No matter what side of the fence you come down on .
Maybe there should be a metaphorical deep breathe taken .

It’s worrying as I can now see it happening on here, where people questioning words and actions are being labelled as being ‘personally abusive ‘ .
Time to take a breather . We don’t want it getting nasty .

But I keep coming back to what Hunter had said until he is blue in the face .
Think what you like , but take a moment please to wonder why the folk who ‘shout the loudest’ …..shout the loudest.

That’s all .

Matt's late father, Harold was a vocal supporter for years.
In fact, it was the Wintons who subsidised wages and transfers back when QPR were in administration;
https://www.theguardian.com/fo
This probably gives him a bit more right to be in the room in my opinion, even if we do not 100% agree with what he's saying.

I get the point below, he wasn't representing any fan sites per se though, which probably lowered his credibility somewhat, but being honest I don't know who most of the others are either!

I've read AKUTR's since I was a kid and I like Connors YT channel.

I think if the club needed a balanced voice in the room I've always thought Jim Frayling speaks well, but what do I know!

Brevett was signed a few years before Wilson left. Think he joined in 91 and Wilson left in 95

Brevett signed the same time as Tilson and Peacock. They all debuted in the away game at the baseball ground if i remember right.

Having actually listened to it, it's a lot of good stuff from the club.

The loan thing put a lot into perspective for me. How are 50/ 60 clubs supposed to fit all their loans into 20 odd teams below them? League One/Two loans aren't as easy as we think.

I like what he says (CN) most of the time, but as ever, it's what he's not saying that's the issue. That's a trust thing that is hard to earn back.
