Absolutely love him. He didn't even look out of place at AFCON. I think losing him is a big part of our decline last season.
If he has weaknesses it's saving pens and if I'm being really harsh maybe long distance shots are not as good as close up. But the best keeper we've had in years.

His antics during the penalty shoot out were pathetic and unprofessional, he yelled at the first penalty taker 'C'mon' so the first penalty taker did C'mon and duly dispatched his penalty, from then on he proceeded to jump up and down waving his arms for the remaining penalty's.
The rest Is history.
If your a GK facing penalty's surely you concentrate on the ball? If your halfway up in the air when the kick is taken that's It your fcked.
He's a good GK but in my bad books at the moment.
My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

Strange one to ask. He is (generally) the best we've had for a while; great shot saver, fantastic distribution with both feet. Yes, he is crap at pens, but as Clive said, since Alex Smithies, they've all been pretty crap.
Great 'keeper; still one of the best in the Championship as far as I can see...
To me he seems excellent in all aspects of 'keeping except one. His positioning is good, his distribution first class, communication fine, command of his area brilliant. The only are where he's seriously weak is in his reactions. Once upon at time reflexes were about the only thing that mattered for a keeper, now that definitely isn't the case. But they are still important and Seny's aren't the best. He doesn't, or can't, read a player's intentions well. Last night he dived the wrong way for the first three pens. The right way, but too slowly for the fourth, the fifth he almost saved but still took too long to read a bad kick.
Trouble is I'm not sure if that key factor can be coached or whether it's inherent. He came to keeping late so maybe that's an issue too.

I love him too but I think it's a fair question to ask if he's improving. He's 27 now and I think keepers can get better in later years than outfield players.
The one issue I think he has got, apart from pens, is conceding near post goals. That should be something good coaching can sort out.

I'm a bit sick of keepers doing this. A simple rule change would stamp it out.

Other than Smithies and Kenny who else had a decent penalty record for us? Stejskal?
Purely a feeling rather than any knowledge, but I think Seny could be the next player out of the door. If someone were to come knocking and had £5m in their hand, we would probably have to accept it as losing him would have the least impact on performance/results, we still have three keepers on the books including Walsh who seems highly rated and we need money!
Seny is a solid keeper and fairly consistent, without many errors. His distribution has been good but he fluffed two passes v Charlton which was slightly out of character. Can’t seem to get near penalties but that isn’t a huge issue.

Interesting, Vancouver.
I hadn't noticed he has weak reflexes (penalties aside - and that's more of a set-up and approach issue, imho)) , but I'll continue to watch.
But it's certainly coachable, to answer your question, regardless of age.

Excellent keeper. Our best since Seaman imo.
I'm too young to have seen Seaman play for us (sorry) but I wouldn't have Dieng down as better than Paddy Kenny - he was unreal for us that season.
For all he's not liked for being part of that farcical era, on pure ability Julio Cesar was miles better as well - the guy's pedigree was fantastic - BUT that said on how he performed for us I'm not sure I'd necessarily put him better than Seny. Nor on the way Cesar effectively treated us like a holiday camp which always makes him marginally disliked (much like Hayes I found it funny seeing him ship 7 in that 2014 World Cup Semi-Final too...)
Other than that though, the main keepers I've seen play for us over 25 years - I think off the top of my head I'd only have Kenny better, and Smithies probably the same level as Seny.

Fair points, but Dieng is far, far better than Kenny or Cesar in the air, and a far better distributor than Kenny. Cesar really wasn't great for us, and didn't play enough, but I agree he had serious talent.
edit - Smithies was good, yes. I suppose the question is "would you take Smithies for Dieng in a straight swap?". I wouldn't, but I can see how others might.

He is big and strong. That helps him command the penalty area, stop crosses etc. His distribution seems to have improved, too. But, he is not a penalty saver. IMHO, being a big lad makes it harder for him. We all know how we would beat him from the penalty spot... but, don't tell anyone.

I wouldn't take Smithies now because he's older, but if they were the same age I'd happily see them as interchangeable.
That's not a discredit to Dieng because I really like him and I agree with others in saying he's one of the better goalkeepers in this league.

Needs some coaching, especially with positioning and anticipation. The opposite of love isn't hate,it's indifference and not at all like Marmite. I quite like him.
