L'Equipe reckons that we met with him at the weekend but our initial offer was declined. Seems to be a lot of interest in the boy and has got a pretty good scoring record.

The most recent rumour about this kid had him going to Arsenal for £8m. One of the best young talents in France and way out of our bracket surely.
If there's any truth in it HR's gone back to the M'Vila Capoue style punts. Might have worked for Remy but it's even more absurd in the Championship now.
Still better than Carlton Cole etc but not exactly crafty scouting is it.

L'Equipe says we made an offer, believed to be £3.5m but Auxerre want £6m. Mentions that Arsenal have shown interest but no offer, Rennes have made an offer and so have Gladbach but it seems he is interested in coming to London.

Redknapp said the same thing after the Ipswich game, whilst deciding Nakhi Wells didnt fall into that category and Carlton Cole would be great.
perhaps he feels this French kid is a better player than Wells but probably not as according to a few on here he only signs over 30's and ex spurs players

Instead we're just offering a kings ransom to tempt a young guy to take a huge stepdown in playing level. What could possibly go wrong?

So we shouldn't sign players on the way up as we might be a stepdown for them and shouldn't sign players on the way down either, doesn't leave us with many options

There's a huge difference between signing up and coming players looking to step up, such as the aforementioned Wells, and paying a fortune to a young up and coming player to come and audition for Arsenal at a much worse level than they are currently playing.

Auxerre are in the second tier of French Football, so the same as us. So not a much worse level at all.

so Bradford to Huddersfield is ok despite Wells surely using huddersfield as a stepping stone for his next move yet this kid using us as a stepping stone to Arsenal or similar is wrong?
Thats where we are in the football world, if we can get players who do well with us then move upwards rather than nowhere then that has to be a good thing

So we suddenly get tangible examples of what HR would like to do with the Remy money.
I'm sure he's very dynamic and all that but tbh I didn't see too much passing or linking up in that highlights video. The focus seemed to be on his amazing head down dribbling. If we need someone to run into a culdesac that's what we've got Hoilett for.
