| Consistent inconsistencies - Preview on 20:59 - Feb 3 with 2868 views | Wegerles_Stairs | Pretty impressive that Rotherham have only lost that much money over the last two seasons - that's a relegation and a promotion, so in theory we've spent a hell of a lot more to be a few points better off than them currently. | | | |

Nothing like a cup of a hot steaming reality check in the morning. Great piece as ever, Clive.

He was the only one of Warburtons picks that merited recruiting, I was never a fan of Wallace, he could run up the touch line but couldn't get back, another player picked up at the wrong stage of his career. Yeah I know Dom Ball had his limitations but he brought some steel to the midfield, gave us a 90+ minute performance every game and that's what we're missing, the irony is he's been injured a lot up at Ipswich after being injury free for nearly all of his time with the Rs.... If there had been a choice between keeping Adomah or Ball , then I would have kept Ball and I'm pretty sure if we had offered him another contract he would have stayed, sorry Albert love you but it's one contract too many... In an ideal world Dom Ball would be part of the squad and you would hope to bring better players through to replace him but his type of player can be crucial in very tough Championship games. PS ..... We've just effectively released 6 players as I'm not expecting the loan ones to get their contracts renewed, there would have been room for manoeuvre last Summer surely. I can take QPR being sh!te but seeing Millwall, Luton etc remain stable and improve is the part I find most sickening. As weve seen with Sunderland coming back to be some kind of force, so we will see Sheff Wed back pushing us further down the pecking order. With regards to the loanees Tim has cost us more points than things he's done to win points, Tyler Roberts gained us a point at Reading and extra time at Charlton, Taylor richards(spread deal) is Mr Invisible. Ethan Laird would be the only loan who has been succesful along with Jamal Lowe who I hope hasnt sunk into the malaise the rest of the squad is coated with. Cant see us getting anything and the scoring of goals looks less likely every game. Too many players have a basket of rickets they dole out each game. !-0 Terriers

Even allowing for the 24 years from 1972 where we were close to being London's top team (not club), it has been longer than that since the 1996 relegation. And we have only played 23 seasons in the top division in our 137 year history! That doesn't mean that we should just except that this is as high as we can go as every club has times when they rise above the norm. I do understand the frustration that many supporters feel, especially the 750 away regulars. I don't know why, but personally I'm not getting anywhere near as upset with our lack of results/performances as I used to, even in the years when I wasn't attending. Perhaps this is due to having lived through it all before & being retired, I don't look to football to brighten a mundane existance! Now when my Bridge partner f***s up, I do struggle to remain calm! Thank you for the Bristol City example of zero loans & bringing teenage players into the squad. It shows that it can be done & that we don't have to waste money on grooming players for their parent clubs. Good luck to all of you that are going to Huddersfield today.
| Consistent inconsistencies - Preview on 10:48 - Feb 4 with 2056 views | PunteR | We have to seriously look at our Dof don't we? I mean, this inconsistency is surely down to Les Ferdinand right? That was the whole point of a DoF to bring consistency between managers, recruitment etc.? | |

if I understand it correctly, Belk doesn't make decisions on recruitment. He provides information and analysis that identifies candidates to be considered.

I think there's a technical issue. I briefly saw a headline for the match report but when I clicked on it, just get the preview, now I can't see even the headline?
