Interview with the Chairman 11:03 - Jun 8 with 8369 viewsDaleiLama

Edit: As honest as the manager. Full of positive messages after "the state of the club" the current board inherited. We're fan owned, run properly and efficiently, cutting costs, sweating the assets, frozen cheapest SCs in L2 and increasing the player budget. Such a refreshing change to believe what is said and know we will continue to move in the right direction, safe from those who would try to end that.

A brilliant interview.

Well done to Simon and the rest of the board for navigating an incredibly difficult first year. Here's to many more.

Tangled up in blue.

As I recall, from the last fans forum, it was explained that Morton House told the EFL we didn't have enough money to start the season. We were under embargo whilst the EFL checked, which was at the prime time for signing players.

Simon speaks incredibly well and managed to answer most questions on the fans minds in a short space of time.

The current board are true custodians, they want the club to maximise what is has, then we can have the best playing budget we can. All with zero plans to screw anyone over.

"Only EFL club in North Manchester" was an excellent line.

We're one of the luckiest clubs in the league to have what we have. Actually, scrap that, we deserve every last bit of it.

It's another great interview.

Mortgage free, fan-owned, cheapest season ticket prices we can offer.

Hopefully fans and the town back the club with good season ticket numbers. Good to hear over 1,200 sold already.

As the article shows on distances, it is a very Northern based league next season.

Thanks for that.
So Morton House caused us to be under an embargo due to their spurious accusations, sorry downright lies. We should be claiming for damages never mind going to reconciliation.

They tried to stick the knife in and claim we were 'on the brink', to cause maximum damage.

EFL found otherwise, but in the meantime, our targets went elsewhere, which made a very difficult job, even harder. No wonder the Chairman had doubts whether we would survive, - but we did. That should send a message to all the flip-flop gang, that we fight harder than you ever thought, on and off the pitch.

Agreed on North Manchester. The only entity that considers there is another North Manchester club is Radio Bolton, which used to cover teams in the Manchester area before it dropped Manchester in favour of Bolton.

What a bunch of t**ts!! What right did MH have to tell the EFL that garbage? More disturbing, why did the EFL take MH’s word as gospel without first confirming this with the club??
EFL - not fit for purpose.

What a refreshingly humble and honest interview delivered with any fanfare or whiff of narcissism- well done, Simon.

It's perhaps no surprise to hear about the fundamentals of business management being missing, despite us having the most professional CE prior to him being fooked off by shareholders who knew he was a not right.

How can you run a business of this size without management accounts and without cost control measures?

That one act alone establishes the disregard of MH for the best interests of the football club

It can - and should - be used in any legal proceedings as a determinant of their true intentions, since even if they were such magnificent human beings as to wish to plough their own money into improving the club they'd had no previous association with (and we know it wasn't their own money), the act was guaranteed to prejudice our planning for the season which no benefactor would do, even if they felt they'd been aggrieved

It simply confirms the word "hostile" in "hostile takeover"

And to echo whats already been said, an interview with our chairman that will be remembered well into the future

Can't get blood out of a stone. Can't get money from people who have none.
The sooner we put MH behind us the better, there are far more interesting things we can focus on and help to build our club for future generations.

The Company Articles might hold an idea, they state that the board can get involved in other sports such as cricket, Lacrosse, Baseball and lots of others...(point 3b), I doubt in1910 they thought about the dozens of other sports clubs that have since sprung up in the town. Perhaps there should be a Rochdale Sports Forum where all the sports clubs can get together to make representations to RMBC regarding pitches, or provision of other facilities, 100s of clubs working together representing 1000s of voters would be huge, or creating joint Lottery applications to improve facilities. The Dale, as senior professional club, offering meeting and event spaces, perhaps office / secretarial services for a central committee, organising bulk buying etc. etc. Imagine having firm links with all the Junior Football clubs in the area.......

I agree, we should take legal action MH, Curran and Jarvis for their actions, it damage the reputation of the club, our income in terms of gates. If RS had got in the players in, we may got a play off for example. I hope the lies and attempts to discredit the club by sheer lies, in attempt to take over the club is mention in the court case, in that it exposes MH and its associates and their true nature. Also did the EFL apologise, in that their actions compounded the behaviour of MH. But then the EFL is not fit for purpose.

I feel we have a chairman and a board that is positive, honest and will put the future of the club first, rather then themselves. As Simon implies, the board are the custodians of the club and it is the fans that are the true owners of the club. I appreciate his honesty in saying he was worried about our status in the EFL, like the fan he is. Hopefully this is a sign of a positive season going forward, the millstone of the mortgage removed, higher player budget and hopefully the end of the shysters attempt to takeover the club.

Excellent stuff, although the bit about the Tuesday games isn't quite right.

With the season starting a week earlier, there's one extra Saturday and subsequently one less midweek than last season.

It's my understanding that there are five midweek dates scheduled, as opposed to six in the season just ended.

Christmas and New Year is seeing games on Boxing Day (Monday 26th Dec), New Year's Eve (Saturday 31st Dec) and New Year Bank Holiday (Monday 2nd January), which follows the same pattern as last season.

This, of course, is before any postponements are added.

That was my first thought too. A man, introduced (by himself) as a business svengali, to whom we should all bow in honour of, couldn't manage monthly accounts. Paul Hazlehurst and Garlick used to dine out on this practice!

DB is clearly a useless fooker who used management speak, aka David Brent, to fool many of us. Fortunately the fans told him to fook right off.

Good interview Chairman!
