You can probably offset that with how fit and strict their lifestyle has to be these days to keep up with modern athletes.

Could Best or Maradona stay at the level of Messi and Ronaldo for as long as they have, living the lifestyles they did?

That’s it, they didn’t. Ronaldo and Messi have done it at the highest level for 15+ years. Best had left United before he was 30 and Maradona had a drugs ban before his career wound down in his early thirties.

30 years since Sutton went and still remember those times so fondly. If United offered Schmichael for Rose I would want cash as well was a particular favourite.

Back to the subject. Steve Whitehall, Lancaster Stuart all got 15 one season if I remember correctly. Would have them in a heartbeat
